LSU’s Brockers generates buzz at Combine weigh-in

Michael Brocker, Morgan Newton AP

LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers‘ college career was lacking in production, but he’s got the physical-build part down. During Saturday’s Combine weigh-in for defensive linemen, Brockers measured in at 6-foot-5 and 322 pounds with 35-inch arms, according to NFL.com’s Marc Sessler.

Per Sessler, Brockers’ weigh-in “caused a stir.” His wingspan is a mammoth 83 7/8 inches.

Brockers declared for the draft as a redshirt sophomore after starting only 15 games in Baton Rouge. He collected 11 career tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles and was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2011.

Projected as a top-ten overall pick in some circles, Brockers will be drafted based much more on long-term upside than college resume.

By “late round”, you mean Top 15 overall, right?

He’s no Bruce Smith but, I bet he makes a mark somewhere in the NFL.

Brockers is a very good talent who reminds me a bit of Richard Seymour. I think his best spot is as a big 5-technique, but he can certainly play inside (although I don’t LOVE him as a 0 or a 3).

I think he’s real good but then I thought the same about Marcus Spears, Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson.

People are banking on Pierre Paul part 2. Too big if a gamble. Prefect place for the jets.

Sooooo your saying he would fit perfectly with Dallas right? Thought so

Though most Panther fans want a Corner at the #9 pick, I think Brockers is a better fit for the team… He and Ron Edwards would finally solidify a defensive line that Carolina desperately needs.

Brandon Hogan will be the starter opposite Chris Gamble, with Munnerlyn playing the position he was suppose to play, nickle.

Second round they should get OLB.
