I think Luck will be very good, but to compare them as athletes is laughable.

Besides, all indications point to the good possibility that Reggie Wayne will go where Manning goes. And I even read Jeff Saturday could go too, providing Peyton with a lot of familiarity in his new destination.

Put it this way … Eli Manning is a better athlete than his brother. Peyton is smarter and more skilled, but Eli is more mobile, has a stronger arm, and is MUCH better at making plays when pressured, and at throwing downfield when rolling out of the pocket. So, the smarter, more skilled QB: better numbers and more consistent during the regular season, but a 9-10 playoff record. The more athletic QB: an 8-1 playoff record. Super Bowl wins: 2-1. Ben Roethlisberger: more of the same. He is a better athlete than Manning, makes more “athletic” plays when things break down, and has more Super Bowl wins than Manning will ever get as a result.

Stevie, it’s not really racism because sadly the media has been dictating who’s going to be the next face of a franchise for years and has gone out of their way to not look bad by pumping up their chosen when they have accomplished something decent on the field, see Matt Stafford after 3 seasons of nothing, and playdown or simply ignore they suck, see Sam Bradford, Blaine Gabbert.

Funny, I was watching basketball last night and what I found so facinating is how colorblind that sport really is. The guy who won the 3 point shoot-out was white and the guy who won the shoot-around was black. And you know, there wasn’t a hint of who was better. Every player was good at what they did.

I seriously wonder when the NFL will truly be colorblind. Not have the majority of blacks in the “working man’s” positions. While the whites in the leader, QB, and safe, kicking, positions.

One problem with your analysis of playoff victories, Pittsburg and the Giants both have had a much better defenses. QB position is important, but defense does still matter just a little. Also noticed you conveniently didn’t mention Brady, guess that is contrary to your argument.

Put it this way … Matt Leinart didn’t even train for the 40 yard dash, and when his pro-day came, he was so out of shape that he wore a big shirt that he refused to take off because he didn’t want anyone to see his lack of conditioning. And his USC teammate, LenDale White, was so out of shape that he injured himself on an exercise machine at the combine. What are Leinart and White doing today? Exactly.

If players don’t take the combine process seriously, then that is a very bad sign. Just like it was when JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf both showed up at the combine noticeably overweight.

I wish you folks would quit pretending as if NFL QBs are college professors or something. The NFL is a sport, and QBs are athletes – jocks – just like everybody else.

Couldn’t have said any of this better myself, so I’ll just re-post your brilliant statements.

The NFL isn’t a drop back league anymore where you have any chance of fielding five Hall of Famers up front to protect your QB on a consistent enough basis, that even started being the case this past decade when we saw guys like Kurt Warner and Trent Green, both traditional drop back qBs, take a beating behind pretty good offensive lines.

One guy was so dizzy when he left St. Louis, everyone thought he was done from the pounding he took, and Trent Green probably can’t remember his own phone number these days.

QBs don’t have to be Michael Vick, but they need to be athletic with pretty good moves. Look at AAron Rodgers or Roethlisberger. They’re the new prototype at minimum while the Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys are going the way of the dinosaur.
