Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t Jackson hurt for 2 seasons in a row? But 42 mil isn’t to much for him? On a defense ranked almost last against the run, the middle linebacker is worth 42 million? Seems like you may have let your ill feelings toward Hillis override your fiscal sense.

Forgot you would have to give up the early pick to sign Wallace, but still if you guys could draft RG3 and sign one of the many free agent WR’s like V-Jax or Desean or whoever your WR of choice is and have a solid draft with your like 50 picks you have after the Julio Jones trade then you guys could be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years.

I am kind of getting a sense that if the Browns sign Matt Flynn or another QB during free agency and, in effect, decide to pass on Griffin, the #4 pick becomes the spot to trade up to, not #2 or #3. Every other team out there knows that it is very unlikely that the Rams or Vikings will take Griffin themselves and it will be a lot cheaper to move up to #4 than it would be #2 or #3.

If the Rams only want to trade with Cleveland in order to have a shot at Kalil or Blackmon, then Cleveland ought to offer a trade of #4 for #2 only, just swap those two picks, nothing else involved. If that’s what the Rams want so badly, then the Browns hold all the cards.

If some other team moves up ahead of the Browns to take Griffin, the very next second I am betting they are on the phone to Jacksonville at #7 to see if they want to move up to #4 to get Morris Claiborne.

To me, the Browns seem to be in the most advantageous position, regardless of what may happen with Griffin. If he falls, they can get him at #4; if another team trades ahead of them, they can move down and acquire more picks; if they sign a QB and Griffin falls, they can take him or offer their pick to the teams wanting a QB and get more picks. The only way I see the Browns “losing” in this scenario is shipping multiple picks to the Rams to move up.

Did I really see someone say that DQ has only had 1 good year? In the 4 seasons he played 10+ games he had 90+ tackles in each. This was his 3rd 100+ tackle season and 2nd 150+ tackle season.

His rookie year he played 13 games and had 93 tackles, so say he plays the 3 he missed and thats another 100 tackle season. The only thing that stops DQ is his body breaking down on him. When healthy he is simply a tackling machine.

And this just goes to show why trading away multiple picks to move up and get Griffin would be detrimental to the Browns. The Rams are getting more and more outrageous in their demands for picks it seems, wanting the Browns’ 2 1st round picks, a 2nd or 3rd this year, possibly a 2nd or 3rd next year, and a late round pick, maybe a 5th (perhaps not all of these in one trade, but a majority of them in different combinations). If they make that trade, how can they add anything to help Griffin?

Unfortunately, they wouldn’t be able to do that. It is looking more and more likely that to get Griffin, the Browns would have to trade the #4 pick (among a multitude of others) to move up. In order to sign Wallace away from Pittsburgh, they would have to surrender that same #4 pick. They couldn’t use the #22 pick because it’s not the Browns’ original 1st round pick, it was acquired in trade. They could do a sign-and-trade, but I doubt Pittsburgh would take that low of a pick to send a player to a division rival. In order for it to work, the offer sheet would have to be one where the Steelers cannot match it and have to accept whatever pick that team has. As much as it pains me to say this, the Ravens actually have a better chance at doing this than the Browns do.

And by the way Big Show, if the coy way your are posturing the Browns nationally is just to keep the Browns under the RGIII radar, great. But come April 26th when Goodell goes to the podium to announce the trade with St.L, the next words out of his mouth better be “And with the second pick of the 2012 Draft, the Cleveland Browns select, from Baylor Robert Griffin III.” or our Browns will wade in the muck of the NFL North for years to come.
AFC N DC’s would hate preparing for RGIII the next 10-12 years……bout damn time.
