gbpackman says:

Packers franchise Flynn, trade to Browns for their #4 and draft this dude. Our D problems started with no pass rush. This guy is a freak. Then use our late first on Strong side linebacker.
--------------
Right. If the Packers franchise Flynn in order to trade him, they will be lucky to get a 2nd round pick in return. No way is a team going to make that kind of financial investment with a new contract AND give up a high 1st round pick, let alone #4 overall. See the Kansas City Chiefs and Matt Cassel. The Patriots got a 2nd round pick from the Chiefs for Cassel and Mike Vrabel. Green Bay is highly unlikely to get anything more than that for Flynn if they go that route.

As for Dontari Poe, the Panthers would seem to make a lot of sense. It would improve their defense as well as give them the flexibility to incorporate more 3-4 looks. Poe would provide them with more options than Brockers or Devon Still at that position.

I’m sorry you’re so sad. Maybe a little sense of perspective would allow you to not get so worked up over some posts on a blog.

You wanted the name of the player the Eagles drafted because of a work out. You didn’t give me a time frame. Mamula is a famous example not only because he was drafted way too high, but because the Eagles traded up to get him.

You’re point that this happened under a different regime is a good point if you didn’t make it like a petulant 12 year old.

----------------------------------------

Your definition of worked up is warped. And I dont think petulant means what you think it means.

Otherwise, please point out exactly where I behave in such a manner. It doesnt happen.

Is it because I refer to somebody elses point as ignorant? Here again, you might need a dictionary.

And seriously. If somebody wants to make a statement that a team is bound to take a player due to certain factors, shouldnt you (or even the person who made the point) be able to have more than one example from almost 2 decades ago? You know, perhaps multiple examples, to indicate said pattern?

Maybe not. I guess wanting logical, truthful answers here would be "petulant". Whatever.

lol Love the people who are talking about stats... he played NT at Memphis in 3-4 scheme. Nose tackles dont have any great stats because thier job is to clog up 2 guys so linebackers get all the glory. Casey Hampton has been a dominant NT in the NFL ( the past couple seasons his age has gotten the best of him)... but his stats arent going to pop out of the page either but stats arent what his position in 3-4 is about..Here is a little info on his production at Memphis..

The 6-foot-4, 346-pound Poe was a consistent force for Memphis the past three seasons, starting 30 of 35 games played and totaling 101 tackles and 21.5 tackles for loss. He did that predominantly playing over the nose in the Tigers' 3-4 formations.

If you are a team that plays 3-4 defense..then he would be more than ideal...Alot of teams are going away from it because they dont have the right personel to run it...but for the ones that do..He would certainly be a nice pick up I think

You must be very young. Google “Mike Mamula”.

———————————–

No, Im not at all really…I have had season tickets since 1991, and watched every game Mike Mamula played as an Eagle.

But you know what? Andy Reid, Joe Banner, and Howie Accountant had nothing to do with the 1995 Philadelphia Eagles.

Do you really have to go back almost 20 years to make a point out of an ignorant statement?

Thats just sad. Seriously.

People, people, "EASY"!!!!!!!!

This guy played at Memphis.
Look at this stats.

Do I have to go through this with you? Again?

First of all, league is changing. Nose tackles are not that important with the new rules, 3-4 be damned. You want a clogger in the 3-4, but a high first round pick has to be a game changer of sorts. Either great ball skills, or get to the QB.

He would be nice to have, but someone is going to overdraft him, guaranteed. Remember, it was Memphis, and his lack of stats tells you something in that comparatively weak league. I would not throw a high pick at him. You can get a big clogger later. You must score with first round pick.

You must be very young. Google “Mike Mamula”.

-----------------------------------

No, Im not at all really...I have had season tickets since 1991, and watched every game Mike Mamula played as an Eagle.

But you know what? Andy Reid, Joe Banner, and Howie Accountant had nothing to do with the 1995 Philadelphia Eagles.

Do you really have to go back almost 20 years to make a point out of an ignorant statement?

Thats just sad. Seriously.

I think this guy would be a great pick for Dallas at #14. Ratliff has always been a little undersized for the nose tackle spot. Poe pushing up the middle not allowing the QB to step up, with Ware coming around the edge will help our DB situation.
