Donald Driver will be on Dancing With the Stars

Donald Driver’s future with the Packers is a bit uncertain, but he’s got a side gig to keep him busy until all of that’s figured out.

Driver was announced as a member of the new cast of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday morning, continuing a trend of past and present NFL players competing on the show. Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jason Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, Kurt Warner, Jerry Rice, Chad Ochocinco, Warren Sapp and Hines Ward have all previously been on the show. Driver will try to join Smith and Ward as winners of the competition.

The Packers and Driver, who caught 37 passes in his 13th season with Green Bay, have both indicated a willingness to restructure his $5 million salary to facilitate a return to the team for the 2012 season. The new season of the show premieres on March 19th and Driver’s progression will likely determine whether he misses any of the team’s offseason workout schedule.

Driver will be competing with Martina Navratilova, Gladys Knight, Jaleel “Urkel” White and eight others on the show.

Laugh all you want, but it is a great way to stay in shape while pocketing some extra cash. If he can’t beat Urkel, though, he should probably retire. He’d never get past that in the locker room.

    Doesn’t get what?? Explain.

Don’t say anything negative about this post! It will be interpreted as negative towards the Packers and their fans and will be deleted by the Packer negativity douches immediately! Freedom of speech does not exist if you want to rip the Packers. People can make fun of the deaths of family member of players and that’s okay, but if you call a Sconi a redneck or a drunk it gets removed ASAP.

I can’t believe they got the Jaleel White to take a break from his busy schedule. Maybe next they’ll get that guy from ‘N Sync. You know, the guy who’s not Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, or Lance Bass.

“Driver will be competing with Martina Navratilova, Gladys Knight, Jaleel “Urkel” White”

The 2011 Eagles “Dream Team” thinks that these “stars” are overrated.

Maybe he’ll blow out a knee so he won’t have to go through the shame of getting cut to end his career.

Just go as Jason Taylor, Chad Uh-oh Spaghettios (pardon me, Ochocinco), and Hines Ward!!!!

  20. baltimorons says: Feb 28, 2012 10:59 AM

This show stinks. Adding a has been wideout isn’t going to get me to watch. May I suggest a few nip slips?!?!

  21. rc33 says: Feb 28, 2012 11:10 AM

Love me some Maria Manounos. I may have to watch a bit for the first time.

They could have Greg Jennings or Sterling Sharpe there; no difference to me.

  22. ernie ernie says: Feb 28, 2012 11:10 AM

He’s another player who just can’t get out of the limelight. His friends and family should tell him its time to quit. Had a terrible last year and the Pack have two receivers who are not going to sit around another year for him to retire.
The Pack should do the right thing and tell him to retire or else.

Heh cut the donald some slack, if Rodgers can wear a skirt on a football field then surely it’s ok for Driver to “dance with the stars”.

  30. thingamajig says: Feb 28, 2012 11:41 AM

Does that mean Chaz Bono is coming back again?

When you leave your home, do you have to walk up and move a rock to exit?

Just because something does not interest you personally does not mean it’s irrelevant. DWTS is one of the largest ratings producing shows, drawing in millions of viewers and has proven to be a goldmine of advertising revenue for ABC.

Try expanding your horizons, you may discover a world out there you didn’t know existed.

I watch it. That’s how I know Joey Fatone and Lance Bass have already competed (and learned their names weren’t Justin Timberlake and those other guys ;) ). It’s really not that complicated–I like to dance. Maybe one day they’ll have a beer-guzzling competition to interest some of you guys :D

Donald will do well. He is a class act in all respects.

  37. stavreafavre says: Feb 28, 2012 4:08 PM

His smile and charisma should get him into at least the top five as long as he stays on his feet.

Joetoronto, you always make me laugh with your “Erin” comment. It gets better and better. I can even hear you giggle like a little school girl after you post it. Idiot.
