Burress appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday and said, “nothing else would make me happier” than joining the Eagles. Buress said the Eagles had “a lot” of interest in him last year. (Although not enough to out-spend the Jets.)
The Eagles need red zone help. That’s basically Plaxico’s role at this stage of his career. It was reported by Adam Caplan of SiriusXM that the Eagles would have interest in Burress. We can’t imagine there will be great competition for his services.
The Jets paid Burress $3 million on a one-year contract last offseason. There was an element of risk because no one knew what Burress would look like after his prison sentence.
Now we know what Burress looks like: A role player. There’s not a lot of reason to think Burress will get a better contract this offseason.

Both of those guys messed up their chances and now the NFL should give some young guys a chance.

For what Plax has left, the Eagles or any other team could just bring in an even taller basketball player who’s good at rebounding.
Plax’s big mistake was wearing a Phillies hat when he got out of prison. The Eagles’ management hate the Phillies more than they hate the Giants, Cowboys, and Redskins combined.
Why not bring him and Randy Moss in for a look? They can’t be any worse than Jason Avant and Rilley Cooper.
Maybe he doesn’t need a better contract. He just wants to play with his mate Vick.
He could also want to play twice a year against his old team, with a team that can actually beat the Giants.

He will not sign anywhere other than Philly or the Giants, you can count on it. If they don’t want him, he’ll be taking his ball and going home.
The fact of the matter is the guy is washed up. But someone will come with the dumbass cliche about him, ” he’s 6′ 5″ 250 lbs, he’s the perfect redzone weapon.” Bulls***. Stop acting like this guy was catching fade route touchdowns out the ass. He’s done. You can get a rookie with similar size that can do exactly what he does and more.

Oh dear God. Please Banner DO NOT sign this guy, all the hoopla involved with this man is not worth it. Yes we do need red zone help, but there are better options like, I don’t know, running the ball in the red zone and not force passes to our small receivers. And me personally, would pick Avant over this guy any day of the week.

What an insult to TO and Moss. TO is 3rd ALL-TIME in TD catches. Moss DOMINATED opponents for years. Plaxico shot himself in the leg and did not much else.

I am no fan of plaxico the man. But I see people saying he’s washed up? Do you even watch the games ? The guy had 8 td’s last year with the worst qb I have ever seen in my whole life. Not to mention he had one of the better td catches of the season against the eagles last year.
If he is willing to take the one year deal and remain as good a citizen as he was last year then I am all for him coming in as a 6th wr.

I’ll take him. I’m pretty numb to these acquisitions after the past few years. It’s not like he is going to set the team back years no matter what happens. Besides they need to focus all their draft picks on defense.
@andyreidisfat. I totally agree. Sanchez is just a really bad quarterback. Once in awhile he’ll put together a brilliant drive but its rare. During that pivotal Giants/Jets game, I’ve never seen someone try so hard to lose than I did Sanchez . . . ever!

Lamest comment I’ve seen in recent posts. Avant is one of the most underrated, sure-handed #3 WRs out there, and one of the few on the Eagles who has the size/desire to go over the middle. Cooper is still developing, he’s only coming into his 3rd season. It’s Riley, btw, not Rilley…that’s just silly.

@rickastleydancemoves im not saying the guy is a pro bowler but he isn’t washed up either. He caught 8 TDs 7 of which were in the redzone (with Sanchez at qb)…the eagles are terrible in the redzone and could definitely use that kind of production for the little amount that they would have pay him.
Considering the money that the Eagles threw away on Steve Smith last season, there’s no reason to believe that they won’t give Burress $3 million (or less if they can get away with it).
This bum just wants Another place where he can run wild and not be held accountable. I’m glad he didn’t want to come back to the Giants and pretty soon I’ll be glad he’s out of NY completely. The eagles will suit him perfectly.

The Eagles appreciate players who perform at a high level on the field and keep their mouth shut off the field (in other words, never demand a new contract).
Considering who he had throwing to him, he didn’t have that bad of a season for a guy who hadn’t played in a few years. I’d welcome him to my team.
Well, they do run a lot of shotgun………it should be a great fit. I’d pull the trigger on that deal if I’m the Eagles.

I thought the “Browns might franchise Hillis” was a dumb story but now this … i think this guy does not realize that not many teams sign 4th, 5th and 6th receivers who can’t play special teams. He is no longer anything but a depth guy and he was mucho overpayed last year for what he provided.
