Ohio State’s Brewster wants Michigan’s Molk to shut his mouth

Michael Brewster AP

Bad blood is brewing between two of the top centers in this year’s NFL draft.

We passed along comments this morning from Michigan’s David Molk, who thinks anyone who doesn’t call him the best center in the draft is stupid. One center who’s ranked ahead of Molk on some draft boards, Ohio State’s Michael Brewster, is, according to Molk, “nowhere near me as a player.”

Unsurprisingly, Brewster didn’t take kindly to those comments. On Twitter this morning, Brewster fired back.

“If they are talking, then you are doing something right,” Brewster wrote. “And Molk, keep my name out of your mouth.”

Brewster also retweeted a fan who wrote, “I like how Molk waited until after the Senior Bowl and the Combine to start shooting off his mouth . . . he wont have to see Brewster anymore.”

Molk and Brewster likely won’t see each other until they’re in the NFL. We’ll see in April which one of them is the higher draft pick.

Who ever tweeted that does realize Molk and Brewster would have never seen each other anyway… seeing as they both play on the offensive side of the ball.

i would take Molk over Brewster in the blink of an eye… just ask Mike Martin who essentially beat the daylights out of Brewster.

Hilarious that they’re arguing about who the third best C prospect in the draft is. Jones and Konz are going off the board before these two.

MGM, they probably couldn’t see the guy in the 8 million pot holes they have, or they were working so hard at avoiding their crappy drivers, they simple didn’t notice the man.

Its funny, guys no longer have to be face to face to have a pushing match, now they can shove at each other over twitter, in the end niether will usually end in an actual fight. I don’t have a problem with Brewster telling Molk not to even say his name, last time I checked, Molk hasn;t accomplished enough to spout off.

  21. blackholebeaner says: Feb 29, 2012 12:33 PM

Brewster was just showing how ridiculous and immature Molk is by just telling him to keep his name outta his mouth. Brewster is the bigger and better center and we’ll see that when he follows in Mangold’s, a fellow OSU Alum, footsteps.

Time for a Wolverine response to this diatribe:

Jake Long? He’s pretty good. Steve Hutchinson? He’s pretty good. Mario Manningham? Had a pretty important play this year. Brady did start in college and in fact led the Wolverines to an Orange Bowl victory over Alabama. To discount him and give all credit to Belichik is absurd.

Who are the offensive juggernauts from Ohio? I’ll give you Mangold, but who else? Santonio? Beenie? You got anything better than that? BTW, who is the last Buckeye QB to even start a playoff game?

How could Hoke have bred anything yet? It was only his first season. If you ever worked for him, like I have, he’s a pretty nice guy. You should spend more time learning to read and write and less time spouting off nonsense.

And don’t bring up scumbags (cough… Maurice Clarett…cough).

Molk did win the Rimington Trophy as the most outstanding Center in College Football this year (over Konz and Jones…Brewster wasn’t nominated) so he does have has a little leg to stand on.

Saying that, he will probably be the 4th or 5th C drafted in April.

Hilarious. I’m glad you decided to go down this route. I see that someone already mentioned Jake Long, Steve Hutchinson, Mario Manningham, and even Tom Brady….Don’t forget Jeff Backus, David Baas just won a Super Bowl with the Giants, Jason Avant, and Steve Breaston are a couple of pretty decent receivers….and these are just current players (offense only). Defense and special teams are just as good….Charles Woodson, Lamaar Woodley, Larry Foote, Leon Hall, David Harris.

Your ignorance is laughable. Go ahead and spout off some OSU alum….I’m waiting. Nick Mangold, Antoine Winfield, AJ Hawk and Will Smith. That’s all I can think of. Enlighten me. OSU fans are hilariously naive.

Who cares how many are picked? How many amounted to anything in the NFL? I guarantee the Jets are happy to pad your stats with Vernon Gholston.

The actual fact is that most OSU players don’t amount to much in the NFL regardless of what round they were drafted. There are some exceptions, but Michigan has more players that actually produce at the next level.

Stats on who had more draft picks does nothing to support which is actually better at preparing players for the NFL.

I apologize, with all the tough talk I didn’t figure you were so sensitive! And you boast as much as Molk, you two have so much in common!
Since you took a narrow-minded approach to my comment, I should clarify I wasn’t talking specifically about what players are majoring in, I was referring to ALL attendees of your beloved institution.

That list you posted is laughable and proves nothing! Numerous “majors” are identical, and trying to insinuate that “Communications” and “Family Resource Management” are for MENSA members compared to “General Studies”? Please…that you think that shows players are smarter only shows that you are crazed. You inadvertently helped me prove my point.

  47. brencorp1999 says: Feb 29, 2012 5:33 PM

Wow , I gather you are not an Alumni of any University. The majority of the blogs posted on OSU fan blog are false not all but most of them and for Tom Brady yes he was a starter, They happen to have to very good QB’s that year Drew Henson and Brady shared the snaps until Brady won the Position, and as for him being drafted 5th round I will give you that. I guess it is better to be drafted 5th round and win a few super bowls than not to have a QB ever win one. Lets not go there about UM QB’s at least the play when in the NFL. All and all with all the comments back and forth the big ten still produces the best talent of all the confrences.

Dude you are an idiot from that state down south, ohh what a burn you dont say the name. First and foremost let me set the record straight, Brady was a 6th round pick, and is one of the greatest quarter backs to ever play the game. If you dont like it to darn bad. OSU has never ever had a player do what Brady has done and never will. Any player you can name from your idiotic school Michigan has one who has done more in the NFL with the possible exception of Eddie George. So go ahead and send your cheating players to the NFL they never do anything anyways. HAHA OSU sucks, screw Meyer!!!

Malcolm Jenkins (super bowl champ), James Laurinaitis, Chris Wells, A.J. Hawk (super bowl champ), Nick Mangold, Will Allen (super bowl champ), Will Allen (super bowl champ), Antonio Winfield, Santonio Holmes (super bowl champ), Ted Ginn Jr., Jake Ballard (super bowl champ), Michael Jenkins (national champ), Chris Gamble (national champ), Dane Sazenbacher, Kurt Coleman, Donte Whitner, Anthony Gonzalez, Brian Hartline, Cameron Heyward, and Ryan Pinkett (super bowl champs).

Ohio State definitely represents in the pros, but we should be talking about our 9-3 record against Michigan since 2000. That’s a 75% win loss record against you.
