I will admit before this post, and the subsequent links and suggestions to other sites, I knew nothing of the facts in this case. However, your comments imply that groupies, or even women of questionable moral values, don’t have the same rights as every other woman. To disregard them as possible victims would open loose women to becoming easy prey for rapists.

In this case, Thomas testified the alleged victim was passed out before anything took place. Seems it would be quite difficult for a passed out female to consent to anything. Being passed out also makes it far more difficult to be a case of regrets and would explain why she was unable to remember the way his junk got to where it did.

But you keep carying the flag for guys who rape promiscuous women and then pass it off that the woman is just regretful.

acanniv says:

      From Denver post commentor:

I left the courtroom before Thomas took the stand. But, this situation is a bit more complicated than what has reported in the press. Two women, the victim and her friend Ms. Che, went to a club the evening of September 6, 2010, to hook up with Thomas and Cox. Before the women got to the club they stopped at a friend’s house and had a drink. They arrived at the club, had a couple of drinks, and hook up with the two Broncos about forty minutes after arriving @ the club. The two women admitted on the stand this morning that they intended to “get drunk”. That was their game plan for the evening.

Based on the testimony of the victim and Ms. Che, they were not sure how many drinks they had during a three hour period. They both claim they were “drugged” before leaving the club because they have no recollection of leaving, or arriving at Cox’s apartment in Lone Tree. Evidently, Cox drove them to his apartment, and their car was left at the club. The testimony of the victim and Ms. Che was confusing as to exactly what happened the evening of the 6th. Che slept in Perrish Cox’s bed while the victim slept on an air mattress in the living room. (Seemed strange because she spent the night once before @ Cox’s apartment, and slept on the couch). Thomas left the apartment before the alleged assault took place. So, he couldn’t fill in the details.

This is what I heard during the testimony of the victim and Ms. Che – the two women are “roamers”, whatever that means. Secondly, they both knew Thomas and Cox quite well. They went out with the two men several times prior to this evening. Thirdly, the two women had no transportation home from Cox’s apartment, and didn’t ask him for a lift.

The two women were absolutely pathetic witnesses for the prosecution. Che got up on the stand and said that her friend, the victim, is obnoxious most of the time. That they frequently out to the clubs with the intention of getting “drunk”, not intoxicated. Che made a few comments about her friend that were unflattering. The comments were volunteered, not solicited.

Like I said in the previous post on this subject, this is the classic example of the entertainment/sports world and the groupies who follow them.

It's an insult to women who have actually been assaulted.

Hey, but you Romeos keep carrying the flag for a woman who's got rape confused with waking up with some guy's junk in her mouth and having regrets about it because she couldn't remember the way it got there.

I'll reserve my outrage for actual rape victims and hope the justice system hasn't become more of a joke than it already is because there shouldn't just be a mistrial, this case should have never gotten prosecuted.

This report doesn't have all the facts. If you really want all the facts then ask Denver Radio host Darren McKee, @Dmac1043.
Demaryius was making out with a girl and fooling around, when she passed out he stopped. He fell asleep and Perrish Cox is the one that had sex with this girl.
I wish reporters would get all the facts before they report something.

Some have said, but might as well say it again. Thomas does not look like an accomplice. This article does not come close to accurately portraying what Thomas testified. He said he was told "I think she's ready" by Cox, meaning for Thomas. His reply, which he testified to, per the Denver Post, and which was, oddly enough, not included in this article was, "Nahh, I don't think so." He then left and had no reason to think the woman was in danger of anything from Cox because her friend was there and her friend was Cox's girlfriend at the time.

He was not an accomplice. This article is pretty bad reporting, and pretty sad.

@thankheavenfornumberseven:

I don't think that was acanniv's point. I think the point was that the article very nearly crucifies Thomas for his role in this, and if you read the account acanniv posted, it shouldn't.

It doesn't sound like Thomas was dating the victim.
It sounds like the victim had stayed the night previous at Cox's apartment, so there would be no second thought to her staying there again.
And Thomas left the apartment before anything happened.

If true, that's far less culpability than the PFT article leads one to believe.

I am still troubled by the "She's ready" comment, and for that I reserve the right to call Thomas down for not being more proactively protective of a passed-out-woman in that situation... but the rest of what people are holding him responsible for doesn't seem to match the facts of the case.

When the victim passed out, Thomas left. He told Cox "Nah, I don't think so" when Cox told him she was ready for him (Thomas). He left her at Cox's apartment with Cox and his girlfriend, never thinking a rape would occur.

Not a Steeler fan at all, but Jennifer, you set up a screen name like "jenniferxxx" on a Pro Football site, then post comments on a story about rape, general debauchery and the NFL and then take shots a QB that was neither tried or convicted for the criminal offense of rape?

Your Screen name references one the most dirty, evil industries known to humanity that exploits young women, men and children and YOU"RE taking shots? Contradict much?
It ain't working from this point of view, just sayin'

Maybe they will finally let me post a comment.

1. Thomas was not her boyfriend; he met her that night.

2. The comment about the alleged victim being "ready" was directed at Thomas to which he replied, "Nah, I don't think so."

3. Thomas did not have reason to believe the girl would be assaulted since Cox's girlfriend was still in the apartment. She was also drunk and passed out and vomiting throughout the night.

For some reason I get the feeling that "dating" is a very large assumption in this story. I'm kinda thinking like he &$^%^$ her every so often and since you can't say that...."they're dating." Still a bunch of sick losers though.

Why does everybody bring up Teebags (that would be Tebow) name in their comments. He had nothing to do with this... So please stop comparing everyone to him. I'm surprised she wasn't gang raped. I would constantly hearing stories like this on the lockeroom or on the bus. This is the kind of people who pay the game.
I've seen several posts that they were not dating and the victim even said so. That changes the story a lot, so if it's not true the only reason to continually mention an untrue fact is to create more controversy. Not saying this site is above that, but I find it pretty reprehensible.

If the facts show differently than stated in your two articles, I'd expect a retraction. Fine line between getting facts for your story and throwing every rumor at the wall hoping it sticks

I'm a Denver fan and I'm expecting that the priority for a wide receiver will have jumped up on our draft board. Plain and simple, if Cox goes down, at the minimum, Thomas is suspended for a significant amount of time and may actually be convicted of covering up a crime. However, wth his candor, Thomas must have made a dea with the DAl so that he wouldn't be charged.

Well you would be correct sort of... Why is he leaving his girlfriend at his friends house and not staying with her?

Yes he did do something wrong as the result of her being raped in which he left his girlfriend there when she most likely came there with him?

Did she come there to his friends with him? Has she ever stayed at this friends house prior?

Someone that knows this please fill us in on these details.
Thanks.

Cox meant he thought she was ready for Thomas.

Not for himself like this article implies.

Thomas then left the apartment before anything happened.

Do you really think he thought his friend (who had a girlfriend) would then proceed to rape a passed out women in his apartment?

Thomas didn't do anything wrong no matter how this article tries to spin it.

Uh..is Thomas testifying under a grant of immunity or some plea deal? Regardless of his legal responsibility it says a lot about a person's character that he'd let another guy have sex with his girlfriend while she is passed out. Can't even comprehend how that is somehow acceptable. He may be an incredible athlete and a hero in Denver, but in my book he is an awful human being.
