Cardinals franchise Calais Campbell

Calais Campbell is the latest player to get the franchise tag.

The Cardinals announced today that Campbell, a defensive end who has played all four of his NFL seasons in Arizona, has been franchised.

We’ve made no secret of the high regard in which we hold Calais,” Cardinals General Manager Rod Graves said. “To be clear, reaching a long-term deal that will keep Calais with the Cardinals for years to come remains our primary objective. This move today allows us the opportunity to continue working with Calais and his agent toward that goal and that’s exactly what we will do.”

The franchise tender for defensive ends is expected to be about $10.6 million.

Arizona needs to keep this guy.

I’m happy to see that the Cardinals are trying to keep the talent they have versus just letting it walk away.

Not sure if he’s worth 10 million a year, but he needs to be on their roster.

8 sacks. 3 blocked field goals. he’s a stage setter and playmaker. should have been in the pro bowl this year.

This guy knocked down more passes than many starting corners did last year. Add a ton of tackles and 8 sacks at a position that doesn’t typically get a ton of pressure on the QB, and this guy is a top 3-4 line player. You can’t let him walk.

Arizona will not get Peyton. They already got a top 10 paid QB.Kevin Kolb.

he’s a 3-4 DE. They aren’t expected to get a lot of sacks. They eat up blockers to their LB’s can make plays on the ball.

BUT, if you can find a pass rushing 3-4DE w/ 8 sacks a year, TAG’EM!!!!
