Though it seems like a lifetime ago, the Scouting Combine ended only five days previously, with defensive backs working out in Indianapolis. One of them -- Penn State cornerback D’Anton Lynn -- posted a shockingly slow time in the 40-yard dash.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the sundial-timed 4.77 resulted from a torn calf muscle initially suffered during Penn State’s bowl game. Lynn, according to Schefter, aggravated the injury a week before the Scouting Combine.

Schefter reports that Lynn will need four-to-six weeks to recover, and that he’ll miss Penn State’s Pro Day workout. He’ll work out for scouts at some point in April.

Regarded in some circles as a low-round pick even before the 4.77-second 40, Lynn could now tumble completely out of the draft. His father, Anthony Lynn, is the Jets running backs coach.
