Chargers sign Demorrio Williams

Demorrio Williams is staying in the AFC West.

Williams, the linebacker who was released by the Chiefs on Tuesday, has signed with the Chargers today, according to Adam Caplan of Sirius/XM NFL Radio.

According to Caplan, it’s a one-year deal with the Chargers, and it’s a deal Williams decided to sign mostly because, of the five or six teams that showed interest, San Diego is the place where he thinks he’ll get the most playing time.

Playing time has been hard to come by for Williams in recent years: Although he was a starter in Atlanta and then signed with Kansas City in 2008 with the expectation of starting there, he has largely fallen out of the linebacker rotation recently and didn’t start a single game the last two years.

He will never be spectacular but he is always above average. I think he led the Chiefs in tackles in ’09. Solid p/u for the Chargers.

I see, the report yesterday was a mistake…San Diego has money set aside for Demorrio Williams NOT Mario Williams. lol

Typical AJ Smith free agent pickup. Weve become the farm system for the NFL… We let our stars walk and get their rings elsewhere, while we collect other teams garbage.
