The Bills continue to be busy signing their own players before they can hit free agency.

The team announced Friday that it has re-signed linebacker Kirk Morrison. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that it is a two-year deal with the veteran who joined the team before the 2011 season. Morrison played in a reserve role in 14 games and didn’t have much impact. The switch to a 4-3 defense is shaking things up for the linebackers in Buffalo, however, and Morrison is believed to have a strong chance at landing a starting role in the new scheme.

He has plenty of experience as a starter. Prior to coming to the Bills, Morrison had started 95 of 96 games over six seasons with the Raiders and Jaguars. Kelvin Sheppard and Nick Barnett are penciled into two starting spots with Morrison a contender for the job on the strongside.

The Bills have now re-signed wide receiver Stevie Johnson, tight end Scott Chandler and wide receiver/special teamer Ruvell Martin. General manager Buddy Nix has vowed to be aggressive when free agency gets underway as well.
