I am a huge Browns fan and I must say our fans for the most part are completely moronic when it comes to the RG3 debate. RG3 would have saved this franchise. You idiot Browns fans need to get a copy of the 2011-12 Indianapolis Colts season and watch it on repeat. They had ALL their WEAPONS (Addai, Garcon, Clark, Wayne, etc) but no QB. You guys need to get it through your heads that a scary QB makes those guys into WEAPONS. RG3 would have made our current players look like studs and RG3 would have landed us free agents studs. The Skins picked up a 3 solid WRs days after picking up RG3. Financially, we would have landed at least 3 Prime Time games with RG3 and not to mention jersey sales. Think about that you Joe Six Packs...Go Cavs!

I hope the Browns threaten the Ram to trade back up. Browns move to 6th. But they get the Rams 33rd and maybe even the 39th. Cleveland would have a hand ull of picks in the first two rounds. We can use them.

Why would the Rams do something that stupid? If they wanted to have the 4th pick they would have kept working with the Browns!!! Think about it!

The days of winning superbowls with Trent Dilfer are gone! Your QB has to be a killer. They gave up a lot but i’d much rather have a franchise qb to build around because you know the type of weapons to get than vice versa

----

It's not implausible. The Niners almost got there this year with Alex Smith. The Bears almost did it with Grossman. Every 5 or so years there'll be a Dilfer-like situation, a team that's spent a few years building a killer D and OL and hasn't yet focused on QB, has an aging vet QB or mediocre game-manager stop-gap.

Adam Schefter never provides information about his "sources". This story is completely BS. If the Browns tried to make a deal, it would have been reported way before the skins deal was done. This story conveniently comes out directly after the skins deal was done. I'm not buying it one bit. Stop reporting lies. Fans today are way too well informed to actually believe this garbage reporting. So if you really know the browns made a "last minute" push, then what was the trade offered? Oh wait, you don't know that much because the fact is, this story is totally fabricated.

The price was too steep for CLE. If the deal is not official - why wouldn't CLE simply match the deal and undercut them. The real winner is STL - and I would say they said here's what we want to CLE, and they said NO.

6 top picks in the next 3 years is very very very good.

WAS better hope that Sanatana Moss can still do it, and Leaonard Hankerson can stay healthy...oh and yes, you do need a good O-line as well.

CLE has to go with McCoy - and grab Blackmon + Lamar Miller in round 1, and possibly a starting lineman in round 2...or maybe Richardson, + Michael Floyd in round 1, and a LB in round 2...or maybe Morris Claiborne, and Kendall Wright, and a FS in round 2...point is CLE still reaps the benefit of last years Julio trade...

CLE gained and lost NOTHING. It's between the Rams and Skins - and it remains to be seen.

I don't hate the Browns, every division needs one team like them.

The Rams set the price of 3 ones and a two. The Redskins were the ones who bit the bullet and agreed. They want to win and know RGIII will help them do it.

The Browns have no clue what winning is.

I see the Skins contending for the division next year...

Full disclosure here, yes I’m a Browns fan.

It’s tough work, but somebody has to do it.

I was hoping the Browns would acquire Griffin, but I didn’t want them to completely mortgage the future to do it. Unfortunately they got into a bidding war with Snyder, who obviously drove the price up.
Kind of like arguing with an idiot.

Griffin’s got great potential obviously, but I believe the price was too high. Nice get by the Rams & the Browns still have 3 picks in the top 37.

Tannehill @ 4?

Now THAT would be something that should make Browns fans crazy.

It's easy to justify not giving up 3 number 1's for RGIII, but reaching for this guy at 4 would be inexcusable.

They need to take whoever is left between Blackmon of Khalil at 4 and then maybe package #22 with something else to get into the teens and take Tannehill, if they are that sold on him.

3 first round draft picks is way too much just to move up several picks in the draft. I'm glad we didn't make the deal because we wouldn't have had anybody or picks to surround him with. I don't know who Griffin is going to throw to and hand the ball off to in Washington but hey you got Griffin right...SUCKERS... I cant believe Shanahan is that despite.

Justin Blackmon welcome to Cleveland!!!!

We should stay away from Tannenhill and get Blackmons man Weeden in the 3rd round

*Sigh*

As a Browns fan, I really, really liked RG3 and am pretty disappointed that we can't get him...

BUT damn, is that a king's ransom by the Rams! I may have been high on RG3, but even I balked at the trade terms...I mean, three first-rounders and a second-rounder? Ow. I like RG3, but not that much. Besides, there's almost always a "franchise quarterback" in the draft every year.

So, now, if I had to guess, the Browns will sit tight with Colt for a year, but we'll draft a QB in the later rounds. I'm liking that Brock Osweiler kid...BIG plus a cannon for an arm. Might be a project, but if he pans out, look out NFL.

On the plus side of the whole RG3 situation for my Browns, at least we don't have to face him in the AFC North.

I laugh at the people who say the redskins arent close to being contenders. Shanny knows what he is doing with this team. Yes i agree we gave up to much for RG3 but if this dude is for real its worth it. We lost most games by 1 possession with grossman as QB. We beat the super bowl champs twice convincingly. took the pats and 49ers down to the wire. What makes you think if we can geto-line help and vincent jackson this year and resign fletch we wont be able to be contenders in the NFCE. Don't forget 9-7 did win the division last year before the Giants went on there lucky streak. Superbowl is out of Question but playoffs surely not. Anything is better then grossman as QB.

I can't believe that people are mentioning how the Browns can take the wind out of the Rams sails this year.

The Rams 2 biggest needs are a better offensive line to protect Bradford and a stud WR for him to throw to/grow with. The Browns should be in a position to take 1 of those from them with the Colts set on Luck, Skins with RGIII and the Vikings likely taking Kalil or Blackmon.

This draft may not have many immediate dividends for the Rams, but that trade with the Redskins has them set very nicely in the next few years.

Rams need to stick to BPA from here on out. They're set very nicely..... as long as they don't panic and trade assets to move up for their "guy".

What people have easily forgotten is that the Redskins organization did not have 1st round draft choices for years!!!! From 1969 to 1990, they had a total of 3 first round picks (Monk, May, Green). From '72 to '79, they didn't even have a pick in the the first three rounds ('72 their first pick was in Round 8)! These are arguably the greatest years in the Redskins franchise.....done with a lack of #1 picks and no free agency.

The sky is not falling if RGIII is a bust. Welcome to DC, Robert Griffin III.

folks griffin. hasn't. played. a down. look at all of the other "franchise" qb's everyone was sooooo sure were the next montana, elway, etc. calm down with the "he's a franchise qb, cam newton 2, etc" stuff just yet.

this just means the skins need to fill their holes through free agency, and we all know that's never guaranteed either. agree with them pulling the trigger or not, the Browns mission statement is to build through the draft. if that's the case, why would they give up their main source of talent infusion? the drafting so far has been decent by the browns (decent, not great). bad teams need the draft, good teams need free agency. we're still a bad team, good move Browns.

As a Browns fan, good for the Redskins - great for US!!!!

I love RGIII, I think he will be a solid player.

But our roster is sh*t and we couldn't afford to give up all that.

Hell, my dream scenerio would be to trade down with the Patriots and get both of their first round picks and keep our 22nd we got from Atlanta in the Julio Jones trade. But that is wishful thinking.

If we stick with the #4 - I would like to see Claiborne, Blackmon, or Richardson drafted in that position. I'm hearing Tannehill with the #4 - but he played QB for one year in the Big 12 at A&M, I'll pass on that!

I'm a Browns fan, and I'll tell you flat out, I think the Browns are TERRIBLE right now. The point is, how do you rectify that? It also sounds more reasonable than hopping online to talk smack about Browns' management just because they chose to stick to their plan instead of going crazy like lovestruck teenagers over one player.

Typical Browns fans....Out of touch. It's 2012 not 1987. The rules have changed. The prerequisite for success is a franchise QB. Who cares if you get to the playoffs? Who cares if you get to AFC Championship games? (just ask LaDanian Tomlinson) It's all about winning titles. It's about Sticky Lombardis as Coach Tomlin puts it.

Stockpiling picks for a great linebacker, offensive lineman or cornerback can get you to the playoffs. They don't win you titles.

Since the rules for defensive contact, etc. have changed to clearly place an emphasis on passing football here is the list of Super Bowl winning QBs: Brady, Big Ben, Peyton, Eli, Big Ben, Brees, Rodgers, Eli. Who are the top 5-6 QBs in the league? In no particular order, Brady (best ever to play the game), Rodgers, Brees, Eli, Big Ben and Peyton. (Shout Rivers and I'll puke)

Next year the Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Giants, or Saints (less likely given distractions) will win the title. Mark it down.
