Mattw70 is correct. The Redskins are gave up 2 1st rd picks not 3. Yes, the skins are using 3 1st round picks but only gave up 2, not 3. They swapped the #2 pick with the rams for the skins #6 (a wash there, well… Better than than a wash because they moved up 4 spots). So, once again they gave up 2 1st rd picks not 3. Gator said that the colts are only using 1 first round pick on Luck. Ok, and the Redskins are using 3 total 1st rd picks on this years #2 overall. 3-1=2. Not 3. You can’t count swapping the #2 for the #6 as losing a pick (its a wash/with a bonus of moving up 4 spots). It’s still a lot to give up (2 1st rd picks and a 2nd rd pick) but sometimes you have to have some stones and make a move. Especially when the Redskins have been avg at best for so long. Rex grossman/john beck=more avg seasons. God I hope RG3 is worth what they gave up. Hail!

What are the odds that the trade never happens, since it can’t until Tuesday? Why would the Rams do anything to help the Skins. Say if they got Manning, it would take away the primary suitor for the draft pick and the browns wouldn’t have to give up as much.

If the Browns were to give a deal that similar to the Skins,’ you would think that having to move two less spots up than the Redskins had two, would almost assure that the Browns would not be giving up their second in this years draft. Would they only be giving up their 1st rounder next year, as two of the first rounders would come in this years draft? Or, since current first round picks are considered to be more valuable than next years, as teams have to wait to use them, would the Browns 4th pick and 22cd pick be equal to the Redskins 6th and two future 1sts? I believe so or the Browns would be giving up way more than the Skins, not just enough to edge them over the Redskins for the pick.

but you are using this pick too to draft him. So you are USING 3 first round picks and a second to get him. I think it’s just semantics and everyone knows what went down, but each side wants to frame it a different way.

Because it is.Skins had the 6th pick, now have the 2nd this year
Gave up 1st in 2013 and 2014

How is that giving up 3 first rounders?The only years we don’t have a first is 13 and 14.

Great move in my opinion….3 First round picks for someone like RG III and with the new CBA rookie contracts? I’ll take this and the Skins signing 3-4 high profile guys. We can take a guard, WR, CB and SS and make a big difference from last year.

This is awful. I can’t believe in today’s day and age, with it being so apparent that drafting well is the most important thing a franchise can do, that teams do things like this. Look at the perennial powerhouses: Patriots, Steelers, Giants, Ravens. What do they have in common? They draft well in the first round. First round draft picks are franchise gold.

Just to name a few over the past decade: Vince Wilfork, Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins, Jarod Mayo, Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton, Santonio Holmes, Heath Miller, Lawrence Timmons, Eli Manning, Corey Webster, Mathias Kiwanuka, Hakeem Nicks, Jason Pierre-Paul, Todd Heap, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata, Joe Flacco, Ben Grubbs, Michael Oher.

You potentially just gave up three of those.

Why do the skins fans keep trying to tell us it’s 2 first round picks? You are expending 3 first round picks and a 2nd in exchange for RG3, while the Colts are expending 1 first round pick on Luck.

RG3 better be that great, because you could have hedged your bets by drafting Tannehill (traded down?) and Weeden with this years picks, and if you stink, a top 2 QB in next year’s round 1. Even after all that, you would have ANOTHER first rounder in 2014.

The Redskins lost many close games last year due to poor QB play. That is over. With a super human player as in Mr. III the Washington Redskins players all start playing at 120% effort. This team will win big this year. Get over it.

It is really 2 first round picks and a second. All you people need to pay attention. I think that it will be a great trade for both teams in the coming years. RG3 will do great things in DC and the Rams will rebuild. The Skins will piece the team together in FA. All you haters keep hatin. All you Browns fans, have fun with your 3 win seasons year after year. At least the Skins had the onions to try and help the franchise get out of neutral. HTTR!!

I’m suspecting that it was the Rams camp who leaked the deal. Why? Because the opera is not over ’till the Fat Holmy sings. I could see the Skins and Rams presenting the info in order to gain better bargaining power with their two real wants….Manning for the Skins and higher picks for the Rams.
Wait ’till Tuesday…lots of time for this deal to “fall apart” or get trumped by an aggressive pick trade package from the Vikings and/or Browns as well as the Colts.
I believe there will be some high drama over the next 3 days

when you have a franchise QB; everything improves. Great trade for both teams. I can’t wait to see Philly’s Matthew chasing RG3. You might as well increase his chances of catching him by putting him in a wheelchair.

Have the Colts actually signed Luck yet? No. Has the season actually begun and therefore legitimized the trade? No. Even if news has been released and made public, there are still factors which could change the power of this pick. Even if the a team would be insane to offer more than the skins, they concievably still could, right? Lots of reasons to keep it on the QT.

There was a report as late as last night saying the Skins still wanted to speak with Manning. The Rams were probably willing to let them hold off signing the trade knowing the Browns were prepared to match if the Skins backed out. Once Manning made it clear he wouldn’t go to DC the Skins and Rams consummated the trade.

I would have held off as long as possible and capitalize on the Monday am work traffic. Its still going to be talked about but also it keeps other teams on their toes. I think the Skins will benefit greatly but the Rams are going to be a an absolute force to be reckoned with as long as Schotty doesn’t blow up the offense.

Even if RG3 is as good as Cam Newton, the Redskins are much farther off than a quarterback, and trading away 3 1sts and a 2 is not going to help turn this team into a contender.
