This is so ignorant. The Skins have a blue-chip LT and a good OLine. Check the rushing per carry stats from 2011. They averaged 4.0 yards per carry (22nd – better than Giants, Patriots, Packers, Bengals, Seahawks and Falcons. Teams that you probably respect). Also, the OL allowed 41 sacks (21st – better than Packers, Steelers, 49ers and Broncos – playoff teams). The QB makes the difference. I don’t understand all of the fervor over two picks in 2013 and 2014 that will ruin the team. It’s asinine. Santana Moss was acquired via trade for Laveranues Coles in 2005, not a free agent. Moss made the pro-bowl in 2005 and led the Skins to the playoffs. What failure? The only free agent WR that Washington signed were Randle El and Lloyd. Last I checked Lloyd is a sought-after player still. Randle El was a decent slot receiver for a while and contributed to our 2007 playoff team. Landry can’t stay healthy and Fletcher will be 37. It’s okay to lose Fletcher and Landry.

Two things seem off on this. The age of Jackson, and other needs that also require attention to keep RGIII upright. The o-line could really use some help, and there are only a few really good linemen on the market. And why go for a WR that has a couple years left in his prime when you can sign a guy just entering his prime? Makes a lot more sense to go after a guy that can grow with RGIII than to sign a guy that has a few years and then will probably be on the downside of his career.

A worthy FA spree would have the Redskins get two WRs, including V-Jax or Colston, and either Meachem, Garcon, Wayne or Manningham. Then pick up a guard like Nicks and an RT. Resign Fletcher at MLB and RB Hightower.

i am not opposed in landing vincent jackson, i think we would have to overpay to get him though and he can be a headache at times. i think we can go younger, cheaper, and better character with colston, garcon, manningham. and could get possibly 2 of em for cheaper than vincent jackson. we do have some pressing holes and ?’s at safety, o-line, cb, and linebacker. as much as some in washington think, WE DON’T HAVE A TEAM THAT CAN WIN NOW. we have some work to do, so to allen and shanahan let’s be smart and patient about our 40+mil of cap space. it does’nt have to be all done in one offseason.

Ahh, I love reading some of these dumb and inaccurate comments from all the Redskins’ haters out there; u all saying the skins gave up too much in the trade, obviously don’t know football….All I keep hearing is how stupid the skins are for giving up so much when in all reality we didnt. First off, the skins didn’t lose or give-up 3 1st rdrs, they TRADED this yrs 1st for an even better 1st (2nd overall) ensuring that we grab our franchise QB for the next 10 yrs. This yr all we lost was our 2nd round pk…. that’s it, ONE 2nd rdr…. As for the 2 future 1st rounders we traded, only time will tell if they were worth losing, If the skins make it to the playoffs the next 2 yrs, those 1st rounders will land somewhere in the 20′s and dont look so attractive anymore. Plus, with masterminds like Bruce Allen and Old Shanny now running the draft, I would be shocked if we didn’t recoup one of those 1st rdrs we lost)….So 3 TOTAL picks to land RG3, a QB with all the intangibles, right attitude, finally a franchise QB Washington has been thriving for for decades. I absolutely love this trade b/c we are getting a freak of a qb and we only spent 3 draft picks spread out over 3 yrs (losing one each over the next 3 drafts.) I love the trade and what the skins are doing. We had a phenomenal draft last year and u might as well grade this yr’s draft an A too b/c Washington is about to take over the NFC East with RG3 running the show……HAIL!!!!

Stop bailing Bruce Allen out, the guy is a joke. And he might not have been the one to sign Fat Albert and thats because he got outbid for him (thank God), he was next in the running for him while he was the GM in Tampa. Allen made the worst draft choices in Tampa (do a recap of the 2008 draft, he took WR Dexter Jackson in the 2nd round, does anyone remember him?) and he also passed on AP and took Gaines Adams (im sure everyone knows what happened to him, r.i.p.), if the RG3 thing dosent work out you will begin to understand what im talking about, good luck thou.

I liked the trade but the arrogant attitude of the Redskins “fans” is funny. That stadium was half empty and the radio was full of calls saying to fire Allen and Shanahan last season and now after a new QB(again), they are super bowl contenders for the next decade?

Sorry, but that is not how it works. RG3 is a very good player and could be a long term star QB. But, San Diego had Vincent Jackson, a very good QB and a better team and won nothing.

Long way to go for the Skins, and I don’t think they have the front office brains to pull off building an entire team around a QB to win. All of the current SB winners build primarily through the draft (GB, PITT, NY).

I would like to see Vjax as a Redskin. It would also be nice to see Garcon as competition for the other receivers.

I like what Brian Mitchell said yesterday.

The Redskins made the trade yesterday in order to set themselves up for free agency.

Look for them to pick up 1 – 2 receivers, 1 – 2 OL, hopefully a CB.

Someone mentioned Mike Wallace, the Steelers put a 1st rd tender on him so as to get something in return for him. They know that they can’t keep him past this year as they prefer Antonio Brown. So he could possibly be had for less maybe a 3rd and 5th. It might be interesting.
