Yeah, nobody in the NFC East is going to win a single post season game until they get that fixed! Oh, wait….

While the Bears are a notoriously cheap franchise, I wouldnt count them out. Don;t forget the monster Julius Peppers contract 2 years ago. Management understands that this team has a small window to win with the aging defense. Getting V-Jax would instantly make this offense much more potent. The only other holes are O-Line starters, D-line depth, and safeties.

That said, I believe V-Jax will prefer the bears to the redskins or bucs simply because they are much better right now and are in a position to win and Cutler is an established QB while RG3 is an unknown and Freeman has regressed hugely.

QB who is not a question mark, Cutler is well ahead of the other two, RG3 will need time to get up to speed.

He needs to have confidence in his QB, he’s on record as saying he’d take a modest San Diego discount. I believe his willingness to discount is based upon the value he places on catching passes from a trusted QB.

I hate to see him go however GM AJ SAmith has mishandled this to the point of inevitability.

Josh Freeman looked great two years ago, and lousy last year. Cutler, if he can stay healthy, is a good, but not great QB. RGIII in Washington sounds great, but every since Dan Snyder bought the club, this team has consistently overspent on numerous bad FA signings. Right now, Washington looks like the place FAs go to fatten their wallet while killing their career.

He only completed over 70% of his passes threw for 4300 yards and 37 tds with only 6 picks. He had more td passes than completions through the first couple games of the season. Not saying he is gonna be the next great thing, but he can certainly handle throwing the ball to VJax as well as Rivers did. Touch on the deep ball is one of his strengths which is perfect for VJax.

If he goes to Chicago, which he won’t, he would easily top 1100 yards and 8 touchdowns. he will command too much money and the Bears cash is better spent elsewhere.
Also, he may never be a pro bowler ever again regardless of where he goes.

I think the redskins will win this one. They will of course overpay but given the lack of draft picks they now have to make it count in FA

I keep hearing the “overpay” comment but honestly, I don’t think that really is the main thing to consider when deciding whether Jackson to the Redskins, Bears or Bucs makes sense for those clubs.

If paying Jackson $12 million/year can be absorbed within your cap, while still allowing you to obtain the other players you need, then the only downside to the high payment is that it comes out of the owner’s pockets. OK, Redskins fans, raise your hand if you really care whether Snyder is out a few more million dollars or not. (no one raises hand). That’s what I thought.

The only other possible drawbacks are:

1. Teams putting themselves in “cap heck”…people have predicted this for the Redskins every year and somehow they are never in cap heck. They have only released players that they have been ok with releasing, based on performance or relationship with the team…not because they simply can’t afford them. Additionally, the Redskins currently have the 6th most cap space of any team. So this is a non issue.

2. Upsetting team chemistry by having a few overpriced FAs and a lot of underpaid hard working loyal teammates. This is actually more of an issue for teams like the Redskins. So if they do this deal, they just really need to pay attention to how it plays with the rest of the team. If anything, the Redskins’ recent willingness to cut ties with Haynesworth, McNabb, or Portis is a good sign. All of those moves put overall team chemistry ahead of the notion of keeping around a big name player just because you paid them lots of money.

The context hear is that if VJax produces and the Redskins win, no one is going to complain about his salary. But if fails to produce and still gets the big bucks, that’s when you need a front office willing to cut ties. Again, there is reason to believe the Skins have a better feel for this now than what they did before.

I think the “overpayment” issue is brought up without thought too much without really any analysis as to what this payment actually means to the team. The fact that the Redskins have swung and missed on FAs in the past is really not a legitimate argument. The question is whether this particular player — VJax — is worth it, not whether McNabb or Adam Archelleta was worth it when they were signed. You have to analyze each move separately.

That’s just uninformed nonsense.

Jackson is over. Not even the best pass catcher on the Chargers right now. Not worth anywhere near what he’s about to get paid.
