These visits are about more than just seeing the facilities, so that’s just a polite way of telling Miami he isn’t interested.

Like I’ve been saying for weeks now, Miami was never a contender because it makes no sense to go to the same division as Tom Brady.

Good point. That along with the poster above who described Denver weather as a non-issue for most of the season is why I feel weather or outdoors will have no bearing on the decision Peyton makes.

abronkella:

good information on his outdoor vs. indoor stats. The other thing people look at to say he plays poorly outdoors in bad weather is the Colts won/loss is 13-10 in December and January. However, that is a bit misleading too. He had several games in December that he played a few snaps and sat out the rest of game because the Colts playoff spot was set.

I really thought the Texans would've been the ideal spot for Manning to go to. Andre Johnson is just as good as Fitzgerald, Arian Foster is gonna be an elite running back for years to come, Owen Daniels is a quality tight end, indoor stadium, get to play the titans twice, the jags twice and especially the colts twice, guaranteed division champs, a great chance to have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, pretty good defense and he's never lost in that stadium. Not too far from Louisiana where the family is. I think it's a perfect fit. For the texans sake, If you can't beat him, join him. Take nothing away from Shaub, but Peyton Manning is the guy to take you to the promise land.

I don't buy the whole Manning was turned off by the media circus in Miami. What did he expect after he and Irsays news conference. I didn't see any other players with news conferences when they were cut. As for not talking with miami, wasn't there a report a week or so ago saying miami has been in touch with his camp already starting a tampering conversation? Maybe what was needed to be said has already been said and there is no need for a visit? If this is on the right track I would expect a one day visit and immediate signing. He can use Denvers weather and Ariz's cap as the smokescreen.

sportsgirlguru | Mar 12, 2012, 8:09 AM MDT
How would anyone justify Peyton going to Denver over Arizona? There is no justification; outside, cold, snowy, no one to throw to…….. Cardinals make sense, we find the answer today!

-I thought the same thing about the weather in CO before I moved here, but the reality is quite different. Yes, we may get a good 6-12" of snow every so often, but it's back up in the 60's the next day and all of the snow's gone. I've been to chilly games in Mile High, but have also sat in the stands in December in a t-shirt and jeans. Whether he comes here for sure, I have no idea. The sheer fact that all signs seem to point to it makes me doubt it. But weather WON'T be the deciding factor.

I don't see how Arizona could possibly be in contention being over the cap. If this report is true then he must have made his mind already. Denver it is. Good defense, good running game, Demaryus Thomas plus possibly Wayne and Clark would be a pretty respectable receiving corps. This could work pretty well.

Typical NFL moron fan. They have the almost 44 million in cap space. They have one of the top defenses in the league. The D carried Tebow into the playoffs. They are Peyton and a WR (Reggie Wayne) away from getting to the conference title game. If they land Manning, weapons will want to come to Denver to play.

-----------------------------------------------

Umm, let's do a fact check. One of the top defenses in the league? Official stats from the NFL had Denver 20th in yards per game last year (357) and 24th in points per game (24.4). The unit was improved from rock bottom the prior season, but you think it was a top defense? Sorry, not even close guy. Also, this "top" defense is going to be without some players who will be suspended for some portion of the season. On the offensive side of the ball, you D. Thomas and not much else unless you think a broken down Willis McGahee is the answer in the run game. There won't be any more gimmicky Tebow led red option to fool people. This will be a conventional NFL offense with Manning, and the fact is Denver just doesn't have that much talent to execute it.

Manning is not going to a team "on the verge". If he or anyone else thinks that, then I wonder who the real morons are?

I thought Denver would be one of the last places he would choose. With his age surgeries and the fact that he has always played in a dome, I seen him going to another dome team or a warm weather city. Denver can be a cold miserable place to play. Especially in the later part of the season.
I just wonder if Denver does not have the Giants on their schedule for maybe two or three years.

Are all Jets' fans just uneducated idiots? I literally signed up for an account just to write the following, but had to comment on "whatnojets" moronic and repeated statements.

Anyway, not ALL Dolphins Fans want Peyton. I most certainly don't! Just a few years back the Miami Dolphins were still the winningest franchise in all major professional sports. About a decade ago we brought in Jimmy Johnson and went for quick-fix solutions through FA. Bad Luck and Coaching turnover crippled the organization.

Consequently, the AFC East was ruled by Brady (notice I didn't say the Pats). Like Marino gone; in a few years Brady will be too , sending the Pats back to the bottom, where they spent most of their time. The Jets got lucky as they literally backed into the Playoffs by Teams resting the final week. They are a good team in trouble with Cap Space, age and Lockerroom leadership. The Fan base is Not behind Sanchez, just as we were not behind Henne. The Bills get my respect. They are doing it right. It takes time through the Draft and some FA. The problem for them is most high profile FAs really dont want to be in the Buffalo market. Thats a problem. Mark my words: the NFL is Cyclic and no team stays at the top. Approx. every 12 years it inverts with some exceptions like all good theories. I expect to see the Dolphins and the Bills battle for AFC East crowns again and the Cowboys and Redskins battle will mean something and the Rams and 49ers (oh wait! that already came true). The Bengals! They can only get better with $60M in cap spending. Houston is here to stay and the Broncos will be back if they dont sign Peyton, although they do have the funds to do it without crippling the franchise.

Dolphins fans will rejoice either way in getting a QB. I hope it to be Flynn without breaking the Cap Bank. I could care less what our dopey Owner actually pays him. We need a few more pieces. Peyton would be exciting and risky for a year or two, but not a good move. Matt Moore was the 11th ranked QB and that is with no snaps at Practice, an embarrassing right Side Oline and yet Won 6 games down the stretch. Unfortunately, the Media and Comment Boards will beat the Phins either way. I say stay the course and keep building with value FA's and youth and a Healthy Payroll. Have any of you seen "Moneyball"?

I don't know what people on this board are talking about. Manning to the Broncos makes A LOT of sense.

Defense: #11 overall in 2011. Played amazing down the stretch, single-handedly got Denver to the playoffs. Particularly strong against the pass. Strong pass rush, good cover corners. Usually played from behind but are built to play with a lead. Manning helps here.

Offense: #1 in rushing in 2011. Strong stable of running backs. WRs are talented and have never had a QB to showcase their skill. Demaryius Thomas was a first round pick 2 years ago - is 6'3 ,240 lbs, runs a 4.4 forty. Eric Decker is better than a lot of #2 WRs out there. Eddie Royal is a great Z, and is basically more athletic Brandon Stokley.

I can easily see a healthy Manning-armed Denver beating New England in the playoffs in 2011.

1) I really do not think he will pick denver, Tebow is just that big there with everyone except Elway. PM might not want to be known as the guy to take Tebow away from his fans, especially if he is not 100% and the team struggles because of it, not to mention the freezing cold of mile high is not aging player with neck issues friendly.

2) Arizona.....IS 16mill over the cap at the moment, how in the world do you trim 16mill and sign PM? You would have to cut some real talent to make that fit.

3) Miami.....Where the Fins do not have the complexes denver and arizona have, they have the plus of PM being familiar with not only the surroundings but the facilities. The weather is ideal as they have a bubble to get out of the heat (ariz does not) and they have cap room and quality players at WR and RB. The fact that he has ended his Lebron tour without going to talk to the fins in my estimation is a money powerplay, plain and simple.

Here are Peyton's outdoor stats comparison, not too bad. Pretty close, actually. I think people just assume he plays poorly outdoors because his home team plays in a dome.

Games Indoors - 111 Games Outdoors - 97

Rating: 98.7 90.8
Completion %: 65.5 64.3
Yds/game 260.3 267.3
Yds/attempt 7.8 7.4
TD 230 169
TD/game 2.1 1.7
INT 99 99
INT/game .90 1.02
Sacked 119 112

Miami is not happening!! Peyton does not want to face the Patriots and the Jets twice a year. The team I thought he was a shoe in for, was the NY Jets...but Archie wasn't going to let that happen for a couple of reasons; tamper with Eli's fan base and his marketability with his brother in the NYC...Archie let the Jets know early that wasn't going to happen, (and we thought Kris Kardashian was a controlling parent). Lets look at the setup for him there in NYJ....his former OC is a consultant(Tom Moore)...the new OC is really an O-line coach(Tony Sparano) and the head coach has a defensive background(Rex Ryan), so it was his show to run on the offensive side of the ball. Peyton will end up in Denver, to give Elway and Fox an escape from Tebowmania... Tebow gets to go home(J'Ville/FLA), and Peyton sees a division he can have continued success against(AFC West)...but they must get a few more weapons in place for him.
