APSince he turned down a reported five-year, $35 million offer from the Colts at the Combine, it has been considered a foregone conclusion that free agent wide receiver Pierre Garcon would be testing the open market.
ESPN’s John Clayton confirms it will happen. Per Clayton, Garcon and the Colts engaged in contract talks over the weekend and into Monday, but no deal was struck. As a productive, 25-year-old receiver, Garcon is likely eyeing a deal in line with No. 1-caliber wideouts.
Whether he gets that in a deep receiver market remains to be seen, but Garcon is going to try. Clayton does report that Garcon will “stay in touch” with the Colts as he shops his wares around the league.

He went to school just outside Cleveland…just saying
That is an awfully large tip for The Waiter who has only shown flashes and not the consistency such a figure demands.
Garcon- 5 years, $35 Million. Did you take a few shots to the head ? That’s pretty big time cash. Not sure where you think you are going to beat that offer!
Pierre Garcon and Joe Flacco must have the same agent.
#3 receiver at best. Welcome to the JETS. Come get our championship bandwagon before it fills up! Wooooo.
He is not worth even what the Colts offered him. I hope he gets even less in free agency.
I predict the Vikings will make him a big offer early and try to convince him not to visit any other teams. They gave Bernard Berrian 7 years and $49 million a few years ago so I think they would offer at least that.
I like Garcon, but he is not a no. 1, he’s a no 2 that drops the ball.
Andrew Luck was just a product of a jim harbaugh system but in place at Stanford. Andrew Luck’s ability to make a good play under pressure is not very good. the games I watched him, he would get flustered and throw the ball in areas where if the college db’s were paying attention they would’ve picked it, especially in the redzone. I hope he does great in the NFL. I see him throwing a lot of picks in the nfl, especially with a gutted colts roster…Its going to be a long, painful learning experience for luck in indy
Who’s has the more talented receiving core, 2011 Standford Cardinal or the 2012 Colts? I think I’m going to give the edge to Stanford.
He’s not #1 WO material, but he would be a huge upgrade to many teams (Rams, Seahawks, Browns, etc..).
i would love him on the 9ers but, for number#1 money???? i dont know about that
Welcome to the Minnesota Vikikngs, Mr. Garcon.
Weird, Pierre Garcon wasn’t cut yet? I thought Irsay pretty much released the entire roster.
25 years old is a big, big bonus for any team that wants him. But more than $7 mil a year?
I would prefer him versus picking up V.J. Younger and I think he’ll play for his next contract. Hail!
Good riddance butterfingers
7 mil a year. Ooh that’s rough Pierre. You might be sorry you turned it down. Lots of FA’s looking for contracts/new homes.
At least you know some of your teammates.
If Minny can’t get Nicks or Carr, they’ll probably go after this guy.
Come to Tampa Bay
MN already has a deal with him, just waiting for 4pm Tuesday. 5 yr 42mil 16mil guanteed.
“Garcon is likely eyeing a deal in line with No. 1-caliber wideouts”
ambitious for a guy who isnt a #1
As teddy KGB would say “pay that man his money”
Welcome to the Packers.
Better option for skins. Cheaper and younger with the speed to pop the top off coverage and give some room to the dual TEs
Pierre Garcon amd Chad Henne are the only 2 guys I want to go after in free agency this year. Turning down $35 million pretty much means the Browns won’t be in on this guy.
I still like what Heckert is doing in Cleveland though, building through the draft.
Is anyone going to pay him like a #1 Wideout?
I’d say that was a pretty fair contract from the Colts.
Wow… That seemed like a very good offer from the Colts. He has the opportunity to be paired up with Luck for the next 5 years but he passes?? This guy drops too many balls to be paid more than the $7 million/ yr Colts offered him. Anyone who disagrees, go back and watch the 2009 Super Bowl. The guy had some major butterfingers
wow. Garcon thinks he can get more than $7 million a year? he is at best, a 2nd tier WR. he should have signed with the colts.
…BUT…good for him if he can find a team willing to pay more…
Any team would be foolish to pay and play him as a number 1.
Which means someones likely will.
The price of razing the house.
Wow. That’s a lot of money to turn down. Am I in the minority of thinking that Mr Garcon is only a #2 WR at best?
we would welcome you in cincinnati
The Colts’ damage control is a recipe for the number 3 overall pick in the 2013 nfl draft
If he signs with the Colts he can guarantee he will not win a Superbowl or sniff the playoffs. The are worse off than a new franchise team.
RG3 to Garcon for the next five years. Book it.
Now way the Colts overpay for Pierre. He is in no way a #1 caliber receiver. He provides a nice deep threat, but doesn’t run great routes, and drops way too many passes. He’s a solid #2 at best.
If the team has enough cap money,Wayne and Garcon should follow, wherever Manning ends up.
I love Garcon for how he competes after the catch for extra yards, but this is a real jerk move on his part. With all the drops he has, that contract is very attractive. I doubt he could make more elsewhere. He’s a great #2 receiver…..but #1?
he’d be hard pressed to get a better deal then what the colts gave him.
The Colts should consider bringing in Vincent Jackson or any other top free agent WR to give Andrew Luck some weapons. He will not have Reggie Wayne or Garcon then who is he going to throw to ?
We’re going to see a whole new Colts team this year that’s for sure
i think the money was perfect for him .. I think its bcuz peyton is gone..
cuz this guy isnt worth more than 35 mill 5 yrs
I pray that someone signs Garcon to a big-money deal. At those contract dollars, the 4th round comp pick coming back would be much more valuable than a WR who can’t catch the damn ball consistently.
he sucks anyway….should’ve taken the $ from the Colts
he is good, but Im not sure he is 7 million a year good. Even with Peyton as his QB he neverhad 1000 yards or more than 6TD’s. He is a nice player, but not sure he is a #1.
He will be a good catch after Mike Wallace signs. Wallace is probably the best receiver available.
Cincinnati.
where he’ll find no one wants a french guy with stone hands
Even though we are rebuilding in Minny, I would love to have someone like Garcon compliment Percy, AP, Toby, Rupolph, and Ponder/Webb.
I’d much rather have the pats pick up someone like this rather than Wallace, Jackson, or LLoyd. Yeah they need a WR but they shouldn’t break the bank. Spend that money/picks on the defense! The offense can already move the ball.
Wow. I thought he was just waiting to see what happened with Manning first. How much more does he think he’s gonna command on the open market with the other guys who are available?
This season he proved he can be productive without an elite QB throwing him the ball. If he gets his drops under control he is a legit threat. Many teams should be interested in him.
Welcome to the Minnesota Vikings, Mr. Garcon.
He has speed but, can’t be counted on as a sure handed receiver. 7mil a year is pretty generous if you ask me

sounds about right snyder would overpay him & bring him to the skins
Garcon is not gonna get #1 wideout money. He’s a possession reciever with a lotta speed that can stretch the defense out…but has hands made of bricks. He can look around all he wants…but I doubt he’ll get more than 35. Not with his uncanny ability to drop the easiest passes thrown to him.
This could be the signing that makes Mike Brown loved by fans, but I have a better chance of being drafted at Guard by the Bengals in the 1st Round.

He runs some of the prettiest slants and curls in the league though.
Perfect fit for Flacco & co. Flacco loves to work the sidelines as does Garçon. It’ll never happen with the cap but would be fun to watch non the less.
Teams up with Cecil Shorts in Jacksonville to form the Mount Union Express!
Give the guy a break….he just wants to see what else is out there. Besides…maybe he is just not too keen on playing with a rookie QB as last year wasn’t a picnic for him. He has talent and in the prime of his career doesn’t want to be on a rebuilding team. I wouldn’t be surprised if he signs for less just to be on a team with a veteran QB.
I bet he ends up in Cleveland. Put he and Blackmon in Cleveland, and instantly their WR core goes from dud to stud!
Come to SF, but not for that deal.
The Vikes need to add at least one FA reciver this year, Garcon,Colston, Or Manngham Any of these will help, Won’t cure, Not without other signings
This could be the rat abandoning the sinking ship factor. He might just not want to be on a team in full rebuild mode and he will take the same money elsewhere.
I’d love to see him paired up with AJ Green but I wouldn’t give him any more than what the Volts already offered him
I bet he ends up in Cleveland. Put he and Blackmon in Cleveland, and instantly their WR core goes from dud to stud!
Not with Colt Mcoy at QB it wont.
Peyton made this jerkoff relevant he’s a number three at best
Put him opposite Stevie Johnson, with Roscoe Parrish and David Nelson in the slot. Then Freddy and CJ out of the backfield. Ryan Fitzpatrick would have no excuse. playoffs
