Kevin Boss is on the way out in Oakland.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders plan to release Kevin Boss, the tight end who just eight months ago signed a four-year, $16 million deal contract with $6 million guaranteed. Boss was due $4 million this year, and the Raiders still owe him a guaranteed $2 million this year, on top of whatever he can make on whatever team signs him.

Boss will become an unrestricted free agent, and it’s easy to picture him winding up back with the Giants, the team he played for in his first four NFL seasons. The Giants lost two tight ends to torn ACLs in the Super Bowl and could use another one.

With the Raiders Boss played 14 games and caught 28 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
