Santonio Holmes has had a change of heart about Mark Sanchez. Either that, or he’s decided that they’re stuck together and he might as well put on a happy face.
Holmes, the Jets receiver who was widely reported to be the most vociferous of Sanchez’s many critics in the Jets’ locker room, has come forward to issue a public show of support for Sanchez, following the new contract extension that Sanchez signed on Friday.
“Very happy for Mark & the entire team with his extension. Looking forward to getting back to work when I get back this amazing trip,” Holmes wrote on Twitter.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said after the reports surfaced that Holmes and Sanchez couldn’t get along that the two would get away for a couples’ retreat and work things out. Shortly after that Sanchez sent Holmes a very public Valentine, and now Holmes is saying he’s happy with Sanchez.
Maybe all the anonymous back-stabbing in the Jets’ locker room is coming to an end.
