@batyuki
You (and sadly many Saints fans) are hurting every single rule of English speaking (or writing in that case…)

More seriously, I’m no hater and I don’t think the Saints should be forfeited their SB win or anything, the bounty thing doesn’t make the players play better… It was a incredibly stupid and dangerous thing to do though, and the Saints deserve the bashing they’ve been getting for the past few weeks. A point needs to be made that bounties are not ok, the Saints were probably not the only team to have that kind of system but they’re the ones who got caught and they’re gonna be made an exemple of. Period.

Deal with it.

Wow really your talking about us Saints fans and our grammar when you spelled example wrong and have the sentence structure of a 6 year old. You are obviously a Detroit Lions fan because it’s clear that you like to throw rocks in a glass house.

Yeah well that was just a joke you don't have to take it personally...
I don't see anything wrong with my sentences but that might be because English is not my mother tongue. But I still know the difference between your and you're.
And if you really need to know I'm a Panthers fan so I like to mess with the Saints fans sometimes but fortunately most of them have more humor than you do.

Removing NO from hosting the 2013 SB will never happen IMO, and it shouldn't honestly. First, even if they were to announce NO won't be hosting the '13 SB & announced a new host city tomorrow I have a hard time believing that city would be fully ready in time. That's a lot of prework and planning to do in such a short time. And second, and more importantly IMO, is it's not fair to the city itself. The shopkeepers, hotel owners, restaurants and such didn't do anything wrong, they shouldn't suffer for the Saint's sins. And I'm sure many businesses have already started to prepare and have spent money getting ready, they should be the people to lose over this fiasco.

My username makes my team affiliation obvious. What I offer is an objective opinion from an NFL fan, not a Saints fan. Most responses I read here seem ridiculous. It’s clear to me people either get caught up in ANYTHING to an irrational level, or their bias towards the Saints creates some sort of reaction or wish that they are made “scapegoats”.

I will first say, bounties are not a positive spin for the NFL. I agree they have to find a way to sweep them under the rug and make sure it doesn't continue, at least publically. But don’t fool yourself, this is NOT a Saints problem, this is an NFL problem.

For a moment, I ask that you think for yourself. It seems most are so used to taking whatever is fed to them within the media that they never take that information a step further to create their OWN opinions. Just listen to my argument, one NONE of your leading national sports writers seem to be making.

Do you not find it strange that the NFL knew the Saints had a bounty system for months and all they did was ask them to stop? Some of you act like the Saints have committed the worst crime against humanity and should be punished as such. Yet the NFL knew what was going on, and didn't punish them instantly, the NFL didn't make public spectacle, they simply said stop it. Why do you think that is? Did the NFL feel like being nice? Maybe they were just being lazy and felt like procrastinating for a few months?

Now, if you are thinking for yourself, and not just feeding off the sports media whose main goal is simply to find the next sensational story, make it last as long as possible, and then argue increases in their viewership justify ad pricing on their stations/sites. Why would the NFL simply ask the Saints to stop and do nothing more for months? I mean, if this was soooo bad, and the Saints were supposedly hurting so many players? Why would the NFL basically sit on its hands? I submit to you, it is because the NFL is fully aware of the issue; they know there are many teams within the NFL doing exactly the same thing, and they needed time to discuss how to handle the situation based on public perception. This is NOT the first time the NFL knows about “bounties”. Hell, the Giants admitted during their defensive half meeting of the NFC championship, they were going to target the 49ers punt returner Williams head. He had been hit hard the 1st half and seemed dazed from it. Their actions created TO’s for the Giants and changed the game. Is that ANY different than the Saints saying, Favre comes into this game with an injured ankle, we are going to target that area whenever possible to slow him down? I realize they are not one in the same. But my point is, strategically keying on your opponents injuries and using that to your advantage…is not a Saints tactic…it is a sports tactic and used every single day.

My last point is in reference to those who act like the Saints were doing extreme actions to hurt people. If true, one could safely assume the Saints rank higher on penalties associated with illegal hits, facemasks, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc. Unfortunately for that argument, the Saints defense ranks below the NFL average on all the above. So if that is true, then they do what they do…within the rules of the game. LOCK THEM ALL UP!! =) Seriously, if these bounties are only $500 to a $1,000 normally, which is what has been reported. Yet the NFL fines you $10,000-$50,000 for illegal hits. What person makes “illegal” hits for a payout of $500…with they incur a very real risk of a $50,000 fine? NOBODY…that is who. Common sense once again tells you, these players were playing the game within the rules. Whether or not they have a pool of money associated with big hits or big plays, is somewhat irrelevant but highly unethical.

Lastly, I offer an article from a writer who covers the Lions. To me, this is what the average fan should be thinking, if they thought for themselves without strong bias. It reads unlike what you get on most other news outlets. http://www.freep.com/article/20120311/COL08/203110558/Drew-Sharp-The-NFL-isn-t-safe-and-that-s-how-we-like-it

Let me say I don't condone the actions of the Saints front office for not heading the NFL warning. To me, that is simply stupid. I for one, am glad Greg Williams is off the team. But be careful fans of the NFL, throwing rocks out your glass house may not be the smartest idea. Don't be naive enough to think this isn't all over the NFL. Like I pointed out earlier...the NFL's initial reaction, basically proves that point.

Two thoughts of mind on this one.......

1. I am sure Goodell would like to rain fire and brimstone here due to the ongoing long term health issue arguments.

but.......

2. Despite winning a Super Bowl 2 years ago, the Saints are simply not that far removed from being a franchise in real trouble. Remember the NFL made a huge investment in Superdome repairs also. Take away too many draft picks and you cripple the franchise which in turn hurts the NFL's ROI.

My prediction, Williams and Loomis get 1 year bans along with 4 games for Peyton and loss of 1st round pick either this year or next. Franchise gets maybe 500 K - 1 million fine which sounds huge but is really pocket change in the grand scheme of NFL ownership. Peyton is quietly fired following the season for cause as between Vicoden-gate and this there is a pattern.

@batyuki

I am Big Who day fan. To all u hatas’, Who did we hurt? Who got maimed or carted off. Our defense SUCKED’WE LOST 2 PLYOFF GAMES cuz we couldn’t even tackle.
What good was da frikkin bounty? Come on ya,ll get off your high horses. For heavens sakes. We should be punished but not beat down. Specially by all of you

Can start with Favre and continue with Warner. Maybe you could have tackled and won those games if they weren't looking for kill shots instead of just getting the ball carrier to the ground. Doesn't matter if anybody was injured or maimed, money still changed hands didn't it? Stop trying to bash the public for their criticism of your squad and stop trying to say nothing should happen to them because they're your team. If Brees was favre or Warner you'd be right along with the rest of the fans wanting a the heaviest book they could find thrown at them

Because they all were warned to stop and didn't, then Loomis, Payton and Williams should be punished equally. Why should Williams take the brunt of the punishment? The Head Coach & GM both knew and did nothing to stop it-even after being told by the owner to stop.
I'm sick and tired of head coaches, who get paid lots of money to be a HC, say they had no idea what was going on or no control over their coaches. Bunch of BS,

let me re-phrase:

Payton should get suspended for a year minimum- perhaps longer.
He had the chance to fess-up and lied to cover his A$$. A real HC would have kicked Gregg Williams Skinny a$$ and ended the program- a coach who had control of his team.
Now Payton would may have Goodell believe he did not have control of his team, because it helps him to have "plausible deniability" with the whole mess.
Up until the walls caved in around him, he'd have us, ESPN, FOX, CBS, NBC Sports, countless sportswriters, and potential free agents believe he was a mastermind HC, who guided his team AND coaches along a journey to Football excellence. Cant have it both ways. He reaped ENORMOUS benefits from Williams bounty programs as a coach-whether he completely knew or not. he is now part of the "Club" with a ring.

Payton: 1 year minimum.
Gregg Williams- GONE for GOOD!

While I originally thought Williams should be punished the most for his running the 'program', I think Peyton should be punished the most, or at least equally, if there's absolute evidence he knew and didn't stop it. He's the head coach, he's responsible for his coordinators. If he knew and 'turned the other way' then he's just as much to blame, if not more so. If he knew and didn't stop Williams, that's no different from actively telling Williams to continue the program IMO.

He’s the head coach, he’s responsible for his coordinators. If he knew and ‘turned the other way’ then he’s just as much to blame, if not more so. If he knew and didn’t stop Williams, that’s no different from actively telling Williams to continue the program IMO.

Lifetime ban.

I would not be shocked if the DA where payment or injuries took place decided to file some kind of charges.

What injuries?

Williams deserves a lifetime ban, Peyton a year suspension at minimum, saints should forfeit their Super Bowl win, and loose their ability to draft or use their franchise tag this year. It is events like this that will eventually put an end to football, coaches encouraging injuries to other players????? I am very disappointed in the saints for setting such a horrible example to anyone that loves football. For that the leave is going to set an example and make them pay severely! If not than Goodell shouldn't be getting paid what he is getting paid.
