First off, agents often handle much more than contract negotiations, especially firms like CAA. They offer comprehensive career management services- everything from endorsements to financial management. Maybe Freeney just thought he could use those services.

Secondly, there is still the possibility that he could soften his stance on renegotiating and would use an agent to approach the Colts about that or respond to them approaching him.

Not saying he will or won’t be in Indy this year, but taking this as a sure fire indicator that he won’t is a bit of a stretch.
