Broncos to host free agent safety Brandon Meriweather

Brandon Meriweather AP

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos will host safety Brandon Meriweather for a free agent visit on Tuesday night.

Meriweather, the 24th overall pick in the 2007 draft, has been highly inconsistent throughout his career. The Broncos need safety help, however, and they apparently assigned Meriweather a high free agent grade.

Meriweather, who spent last season with the Bears, is the 75th-rated player on PFT’s Hot 100.

It’s too bad that nobody from NE or CHI had a coach on their staff to pull this punk’s head out of his ass. Very physical player just missing the important piece of hardware sitting in between his ears.

Ummm Meriweather is a dirty player. He always leads with his head. During the panthers/bears last season he laid two dirty hits on steve smt

Meriweather – a man that tackles with the top of his head.

    He made the top 100?

Meriweather is a headhunter that cannot conform to Goodell’s NFL. He is more interested in making the big hit then making a play which is why he is no longer in New England. He did not do well in Chicago and was benched toward the end of the season.

Really don’t think the Broncos need to hurry to sign this guy.

Not a Merriweather fan, but Steve Smith is a punk, and deserves both those shots.

Patriots didn’t want him and the (secondary challenged) Bears gave up on him too after 1 year. For him to make the top 100 list there must only be 99 Free Agents out there available.

I don’t have an issue on how he hits. But it’s just how plain stupid he is on the field. Yeah, he knocked the snot out of the receiver but unfortunately it was the running back that had the ball.

    Have fun Denver!

I didn’t want to believe he sucked that hard when the Patriots fans laughed when the Bears signed him but they were right this guy is TERRIBLE!!!

Fox has made safeties look better in his defenses for years. At this point he is an upgrade over most of the safeties on the roster.

bottom line is he wont be playing in denver anyways because he’s visiting washington wednesday.. No chance he leaves washington without a contract as it is well know mike shanahan is like the fat kid at a buffet when it comes to free agents, especially those he really desires.. Ask Howard Griffith how his meeting with shanahan went years ago prior to the broncos signing him!
