Former Rams center Jason Brown visiting Panthers Wednesday

The Charlotte Observer reports that the Panthers will host free agent offensive lineman Jason Brown at their club headquarters on Wednesday.

Brown was released by the Rams on Monday, but was once considered one of the top young interior offensive linemen in football. Still only 28, a change of scenery might rejuvenate Brown after relentless losing in St. Louis.

We ranked Brown as the No. 83 overall player available in free agency, based on talent and versatility. He would likely compete for the starting left guard job vacated Tuesday by Travelle Wharton’s release.

Explain to me how the Redskins were penalized a huge amount of the salary cap (I think it was $36 million) and still come out and sign many players on the first day. How do they have salary cap room?

Another thing: If teams are not allowed to contact players before today, how are they being signed almost immediately?

Wow…Byron Bell ready to go at guard and the draft full of offensive linemen and the cats want to see a dude who basically bombed out…..Wow…So much for a cb or wr…You know, the positions where the real holes are…Plus with hangartner on the roster the cats have a backup center

I’m glad we’re looking at a new center, it’s not like we have a Pro-Bowl center right now.

    Oh wait…
