Getty ImagesFOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that the Jaguars are releasing wide receiver Kassim Osgood.
Calling Osgood a “wide receiver” is admittedly generous. He rarely plays on offense, focusing more on special teams. Osgood was due a 2012 base salary of over $2 million. The Jags weren’t going to may that much for a gunner.
Turning 32 in May, Osgood figures to settle for a deal worth closer to the NFL minimum as he enters unrestricted free agency.

I remember when he chose to leave the Chargers since the Jag’s promised to use him more as a receiver than the Chargers would… lol obviously that didn’t work out.
…but we signed the punter Baby! Thats where the true value is!
Come back to San Diego KO. Special Teams have been a mess without you.
i think the raiders might be able to create enough cap space to sign him
Yes but he was a good guy in the community. We wish him the best of luck with his next venture.
Come back home.
Come home on the cheap…come home….Oh,btw, solely as special teamer
Bolt up}
The guy was an absolute stud on ST for the Chargers. Would love to have him back.
Actually Osgood broke the news himself via twitter and Glazer hopped on it and pretended like he was the first to report.
And he wasn’t even the best STer on the team. Montell Owens has made the last two Pro Bowls as the AFC ST player.
If you couldn’t crack the starting lineup at WR for the Jags last year, you have no business calling yourself a wide receiver in the NFL. They trotted out about 12 different WRs last year and only Mike Thomas was worth anything.
Making that cap room for Mario!
“The Jags weren’t going to may that much for a gunner.”
Sign him up. Dude is a missile on special teams.
This guy has such an upbeat personality, I would love to see him as an announcer instead of the usual run of the mill ME people.
Or maybe a HS coach.
Good luck in whatever you do.
Great special teamer.
Shows how much talent we need to have added to the roster when I’m actually bummed out we are letting him loose.
Salinas pride!
Cal Poly represent!
OK, so it says “San Diego State” when you check his college. He transferred from Poly.
He was great at special teams, but moving the kickoffs up last year greatly decreased his value in that role. And yeah, if he couldn’t get reps at WR with the Jags….
Gunner? Or was that how he likes his women? I remember reading something about how he jumped out of window with his GF. I think she had a laser site handgun.
lmao the special teamer who left sd thinking he’d be a real nfl wr
hilarious
If Corey Graham leaves in FA Osgood would be a good replacement.
