APThe free agency signing period is officially underway, and the top defender on the market has lined up his first visit.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live Tuesday afternoon that free agent defensive end Mario Williams is visiting the Buffalo Bills tonight.
Williams has also been linked to the Bears and Jaguars in reports and speculation. The Bills will likely try to sign him shortly after his arrival, ensuring Williams doesn’t get the opportunity to visit any other teams.
Williams is expected to command in the neighborhood of $45-50 million guaranteed, depending on the length of his contract. He’ll likely command north of $15 million annually.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that free agent wide receiver Robert Meachem will also visit the Bills on Tuesday night.

Bills… Just DO IT
he deserves no more than 11-14 mil.
I will tolerate 1 night in Buffalo to drive up my value. Thanks, Mario
haha, you guys are just repeating 10 minutes behind ESPN SportsCenter. Nice job.
Get it done Buddy.
No Jets????
What the hell is going on?!?!!
WHOA! … Maybe Chan can throw a little banter after this one!!!
There goes the balance of power again!
Get R Done Buddy! Can you imagine a defensive line with Mario Williams, Marcel Dareus and Kyle Williams? Watch out Brady!
He’s also been linked heavily to the Seahawks. Why you fail to mention that is beyond me.
If Mario signs with the Bills you know he’s all about the money and doesn’t care if he ever wins a Super Bowl.
The Bills aint messing around.
KA-BOOM. Hey, it’s a start.
BILLS? PUKEEEEE
Both of those guys definitely out of the Redskins price range. Whole playin with fire thing, they were told 6 times LOL
I thought the Bears were in Chicago, not Buffalo….
Let’s do it Buff! Bring the wings!
NO marioooo!! come to the chi so you can wreak havoc alongside your carolina brethren!!
If Buffalo signs either one, I’d be shocked, happy, but shocked.
If mario williams becomes a bill he just wants money…
Buddy – Don’t let them leave!
C’mon Bills! Make it happen!
Thats stupid money, I hope the bills pay it, They must love to overpay.
Either dreams do come true or they’re using the poor bills as a pawn to drive up their value. Unfortunately I think it’s the latter
Mario Williams is going to a place where he can cash in big bucks it he is getting 45-50 million guranteeded.
I though Mario Williams would want to stay with the Texans and try to be a superbowl contender.I guess Texans could not resign him because of the salary cap this year.
Dareus and Williams on the same front would be LEGENDARY. If Buffalo signs Mario everything changes in that division.
Do it Buffalo, it’s going to take more than MW to get to Tom!
Also —- is it too late to hope he still lands in NE??
Bring ‘em home Bills!!!
If Mario Williams does not injure himself getting off of the plane, the Bills will over pay him.
Why can nobody admit when the Bills try and make a good move? Too many haters…
Mario should go anywhere but the bears.
The is no way – no way that Old Man Wilson would open up his wallet to pay these 2.
Only desperate teams will spend that kind of money on this dude..
He’s INJURY PRONE.. thank god he’s walking
@ftblfan9 Mario doesn’t need the Bills to drive up his cost. He is Mario Williams.
That being said, the Bills better not let him leave without signing him.
News Flash to you clowns saying “if he signs with the Bills its just for the money” 99% of this league signs for the money. Stop hating, trolls
I do not habeeb it.
From Houston and New Orleans to the Barren Wasteland of Victories.
Would be a great move for the Bills, absolutely legitimizing that defense. But if I can pay for his flight to Chicago tomorrow morning, I will.

I know, I can’t believe he likes money. I like money too, Mario. We should hang out…
Why is Meachem going to Buffalo? Gotta be money cuz it sure ain’t a QB upgrade.
To all the Bills haters, you havnt been keeping tabs on the Bills, they have LOTS of cap room and already said they’re spending the limit. Yes they will have to overpay for a DE that good, thats the only way to stop the trend. Try to stop Kyle Dareus and Mario. Not happening. Go Bills.
sounds strange to me… the jills don’t attract big time players. Old stadium, possible relocation, longest streak of missing the playoffs, Buffalo… hello?
Pay the man.
texan fans ripping on the bills….
your lone playoff win was against a rebuilding bengals team…
Superbowl Contenders!
Matt Schaub = ELITE! (lol)
“Both of those guys definitely out of the Redskins price range. Whole playin with fire thing, they were told 6 times LOL”
How is this even relevant to this thread you moron???
how’d the bills do last year after they gave fitzpatrick a pile of cash? oh right… 2-10. enjoy the bottom of the division. I would sign with them though you get overpaid and only have to play 16 games.
We need to sign !!! No EXCUSES!!!
In my opinion Williams will go which ever division Manning goes to. AFC East or AFC West. Teams in both these divisions need a premier pass rusher if they have to play against Rivers and Manning twice a year or Brady or Manning twice a year.
Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, and Marcel Dareus…these guys are good…scary good…
i dont understand how i get thumbs down, everything in my post was factual. The Bills WERE 2-10 after fitzpatricks extension, they HAVE been LAST in the division the past 4 years, and i WOULD sign with them because i’d be grossly overpaid and i’d only have to play 16 games. keep the thumbs down comin’ i just want all you bills homers to have to read the truth again.
@nanny
Keep in mind how many starters were lost — including Freddie Jackson. We have been VERY injury prone the last few seasons. We have the majority of the pieces in place. Not sure who your team is, but if it aint the Pats, Fins or Jets, then you most certainly do not have to account for Brady for 1/4 of your division games. We are not homers, we are just educated on what our season really looks like when you go beyond the numbers.
After we open the wallet and pay Mario and Robert, I hope there is a little left over for a top notch strength and conditioning coach. We need that like yesterday.
@angel
you’re right, i guess no other teams lose players to injury. and you might want to get your calculator out because playing brady twice out of six division games isn’t a quarter, it’s a third (not that having to play a good team is an excuse for sucking a dozen years in a row anyway). And Mario won’t sign with the Bills. Tomorrow’s lunch special will be Crow.
