Howard Balzer of ESPN 101 St. Louis is “hearing” that the Rams will pursue cornerback Carlos Rogers when the signing period commences later today.
Top free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan would have been a sensible target for St. Louis because of his ties to coach Jeff Fisher. Finnegan may have priced himself out of the Rams’ range, however. Like Finnegan, Rogers has experience covering both slot and outside receivers. He’s three years older, though, and didn’t enjoy a true breakout season until his age-30 season. So, presumably, Rogers could come cheaper than Finnegan.
The Rams are thin at cornerback after Monday’s release of Ronald Bartell. Their other starter, Bradley Fletcher, is coming off a torn right ACL.
Rogers is the 13th-ranked player overall on PFT’s Hot 100 Free Agency list.

If Carlos doesn’t go back to the 49ers, then all that junk he was saying last year about loving the 49ers was junk.
RAMS fan here. Interesting choice. No doubt, we can sure use him….
Carlos “I’m in this only for the Money” Rodgers looks to be on the move again.
Yes!!!
Go get him Rams!!!
Rams should trade back into the top 4 so they can steal Mo Claiborn from the Bucs.
I hope not. I hate seeing things go the Rams way.
Coach Harbaugh will not let Carlos walk. Bark up another tree yams.
I can’t believe the 49ers are just going to let him go like that after the year he had.
9ers would be stupid to not try and keep him there culliver is coming along but wouldn’t hurt to try and keep him.
see you later carlos !!!!!!!
If Rogers leaves SF for Rams then you know he wants money over a ring.
I doubt St louis will break the bank to get him, because i think thats the only way he’ll go there. Why go back to the redskins *cough cough* i mean Lambs LOL
The Rams DO NOT have the front 7/pass rush needed for Rogers to be effective. Rogers does not do well on an island and that’s exactly what he’s facing if he goes to St. Louis.
Bottom line, this would be a bad call for both sides if it happens.
This guy was garbage in Washington for years.
He has one good season for a team with a nasty pass rush and all of the sudden he’s good?
PASS!
Harbaugh and Baulk are not this stupid. Sign this guy PLEASE
Over pay him and continue to draft poorly; that is the Rams way.
Just heard the 9ers signed Perrish Cox, not feeling great about that…
Was he decent in Denver?
Doesn’t matter whether he goes or stays. If it’s a long term deal, expect him to disappear.
For those getting worked up over Rogers possibly leaving the 49ers –
Its a business. Both sides will do whats best in their long term interests. It sucks as a fan, but that is the nature of the NFL.

You might just want to get used to that. You hear about the trade they made with The Redskins?

The Niners have a fair offer on the table. They’d prefer to keep him. But, they are also not going to give him top 5 money for one good season.
The 49ers put a price on every player and they don’t go above that. Chris Culliver might have been in the discussion for DROY last year if he had started, he played VERY well.
Now with the signing of Perrish Cox, the 49ers will have Cox, Culliver and Brock to compete for the 2nd CB position.
Too old for rebuilding team that won’t sniff playoffs for 3-4 years
Why would he want to go from a sucky Redskins team to a superbowl contending team back to a sucky team ?He obviously is not loyal and is just in for the money if he does not return to the 49ers.
Whiners peaked last year then choked…..don’t expect success again for another ten years….
I’m hearing that The New York Jets are going to very aggressive during the free agency period….
Lots of rumors floating around….if it happens…then watch out!!! Super Bowl 2013 here we come!!
Breaking the bank on a 30 year old CB??? Who’s the Rams’ GM again?
49ers just signed Perrish Cox from Den for 2 years! So bye bye Carlos Rogers. Thats what happens when you get greedy!!
Carlos Rogers was overrated anyways ! Rogers excelled because of Vic Fangio’s Defensive scheme! I see the 49ers drafting a CB in the early rounds now that Rogers isnt clearly coming back!

“Superbowl contending team”? Is that your version of fantasy football?
don’t do it carlos!! come back to the niners!! the rams are going no where if you want to lose for the rest of your career go there but if you want a ring stay here!!
Jets fans make me laugh…
Take him. Smith, Brooks, and Smith made him look better than he is anyway. Now he wants triple the pay. Let’s see him produce when the QB isn’t always under duress. He is decent but he isn’t worth 10-12 mil as someone other than the 49ers will learn the hard way. Culliver will step in and do the job just as well if not better
They are pursuing him which means he wants to hear their offer… That doesn’t mean he’s gone… Niners want him to test the market to see what kind of value other teams will offer

You are either 16 year old “fan boy” or you just aren’t living in the real world of the NFL structure.
You are loyal to the team that is paying you that day and when you can get a better deal from another team, you become loyal to that team. Do you think the 49′ers wouldn’t cut Rogers at the first chance for a younger/cheaper version? Of course they would – and they should.
This is business – and the NFL compared to all other sports leagues is cut-throat in the fact that your performance at any given moment is directly relative to the money you are paid, and at the exact moment one outweighs the other, one party or the other will move on.
If you are looking for rah-rah loyalty, team building BS, move along, because you are watching the wrong league.
