Three more teams waiting to meet with Mario Williams

Indianapolis Colts v Houston Texans Getty Images

Linebacker/defensive end Mario Williams will make his first free-agent visit on Tuesday night, to the Bills.

Per a league source, three other teams are ready to bring him in.

No additional visits will be set until Wednesday.  The Bills likely hope that no further visits will be set at all.

Williams has shown that he can function in a 4-3 defense and a 3-4 defense.  But he prefers the 4-3, and that’s what the Bills run.

And they need a strong pass rusher, especially with Tom Brady in the division.  And maybe Peyton Manning.

Any Reports on who the other 3 teams are?????

  2. trollhammer20 says: Mar 13, 2012 4:52 PM

Falcons (losing Abraham), Seattle (biggest defensive need), and….?

  3. bvolke says: Mar 13, 2012 4:52 PM

You don’t need to talk to those teams. We’re already getting the rally together to welcome you to Buffalo! :)

  4. talkintrashallday says: Mar 13, 2012 4:52 PM

Great if he signs with Buffalo….then all they need is a receiver, o-line, head coach, tight end, linebackers, GM, etc. HELL – they even need a new popcorn guy!

  5. dolfanatik says: Mar 13, 2012 4:52 PM

Vs. Jake Long would be like Yankees vs red sox. Woah !

  6. hawkitnow says: Mar 13, 2012 4:52 PM

useless post when the teams aren’t mentioned.

    Come on Jaguars …

  8. billybob91 says: Mar 13, 2012 4:53 PM

If Belichick hasn’t paid for a flight and red carpet to at least talk to him, there is something wrong with him.

  9. killface4prez says: Mar 13, 2012 4:53 PM

You could knock me over with a feather if Williams winds up signing with Buffalo. They would have to blow the doors off of any other offer he gets.

  10. gmen1987 says: Mar 13, 2012 4:53 PM

Mario Williams, not Peyton Manning will be the most important free agent signee in 2012.

  11. chadman128 says: Mar 13, 2012 4:54 PM

    Chicago go get him!!!

  12. fahlso says: Mar 13, 2012 4:54 PM

I think the 3rd one is Detroit, but only if they can extend Megatron and sign Avril long term.

  13. touchdownroddywhite says: Mar 13, 2012 4:54 PM

Please tell me one of those other three teams are the Falcons. We also need a top notch pass rusher with Cam Newton and Drew Brees(for now) in the division.

  14. mrseaballs says: Mar 13, 2012 4:55 PM

    Seattle , Only defensive need

Mario Williams will be an eagle I just hope they don’t spend so much we don’t get a safety or linebacker.

I’m not a league source but I can tell you that number is a lot closer to 32 than it is to 3.

This just looks like a feeble attempt to have people click another link on your site so you can get a nice check from Fandango, Flordingo.

Sounds like the Bills are making a “take it or leave it” offer today. Don’t be surprised if Belichick has a visit lined up if he doesn’t sign in Buffalo.

  26. axespray says: Mar 13, 2012 5:01 PM

    Browns? Patriots? …. Packers?
This last team better come on out and tell us… ya HeaRd?
Who Do You Voodoo, Voodoo bi….

  27. blacknole08 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:01 PM

Don’t the Bills play in a 3-4 defense? Anyways hope the Panthers are on Super Mario’s radar.

  28. egetto says: Mar 13, 2012 5:02 PM

Jaguars are making him their primary target. Only 3 teams have more money. Khan did not spend 750M on this team to not make an immediate splash.

  29. bobbyhoying says: Mar 13, 2012 5:05 PM

Who would choose to play in Buffalo if they weren’t drafted there? Great climate and high taxes in the state.

  30. whatnojets says: Mar 13, 2012 5:07 PM

    Let’s go JETS!!!!

  31. patsfiend says: Mar 13, 2012 5:08 PM

Pats are not going to may 15MM a year for anyone not named Tom Brady. It’s just not happening, unless this guy is the next Reggie White… which people seem to think that he is…

  32. txndave says: Mar 13, 2012 5:11 PM

These teams don’t known what their getting into.. the guy farts and he’s out for two games

  33. golions1 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:11 PM

Detroit is going after him. If he signs they take back franchise tag from Avril.

  34. detroitrollin22 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:16 PM

    @fahlso

I would have agreed with you that the Lions would be one of the three teams prior to them franchising Avril.

No way could the Lions afford Avril, Suh, Williams, Corey Williams, KVB all on the Dline

  35. killface4prez says: Mar 13, 2012 5:18 PM

Sometimes I wish Ted Thompson would just throw caution to the wind and splurge on a free agent. This would be a good time. Mario can play in a 3-4.

  36. robertp72383 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:23 PM

I’ll let George Clooney from Ocean’s Eleven handle this one:

“Why should the Bills sign Mario Williams tonight?”

“Because the house always wins. You always play the same stakes, never change them, and the house will take you. Until that big hand comes along, and you bet big, and then you take the house.”

Someday Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 can be looked at as the day the Buffalo Bills finally turned it all around.

    Let’s do it, Buffalo.

  37. jpappas1131 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:25 PM

He’ll play in Chicago opposite Julius Peppers and that will be the most feared DE tandem in the league!

  38. christopher525 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:31 PM

@knicks4life, pretty sure he’s not going to the NBA.

  39. tomcous says: Mar 13, 2012 5:47 PM

    Bills are 4-3 defense !!! … Old-News

  40. kvanhorn87 says: Mar 13, 2012 5:55 PM

I guarantee those dopes in Philly will sign him.

  41. stairwayto7 says: Mar 13, 2012 6:45 PM

Does williams know that Buffalo plays outside, in snow, plays 1 home game in Toronto and has to face Brady 2 times a year? Welcome to your 6 win seasons..

  42. jleo78 says: Mar 14, 2012 12:31 AM

one thing ted thompson will go down as the absolute worst gm to follow while having boat loads of cash to spend on a much needed bookend to clay mathews. But he always seems to make people like myself eat crow by plugging a 6th rd div. AA reject with more heart and production than the whole bears offense and special teams combined. So as jealous as i am of bills fans right now, i will once again put my faith in a winner like thompson.
