Read the initial report. He wasn’t involved in the fight and his wife was struck with either a bottle or a glass. The report states he was leaving when the alleged incident occurred. Would you defend your family? Granted, he probably needs to quit clubbing…at a club.

Read Marshall’s history-He doesn’t get it, he continues to put himself in situations that do not make sense. What good happens at 3am? apparently the Bears don’t care-win at all costs with a lousy cast of characters.

You're an idiot. Characters? This is a one time deal, Emery has military ties, a hardnosed guy, supposedly. Ever heard of Tank Johnson? Cedric Benson? Sure sounds like Chicago just welcomes and condones, as well as approves of that sort of behaviour. Last I checked, both of those guys ended up in Cincy. Clown.

No charges have been filed, so what can Goodell do? Can he really take disciplinary action against anyone has is alleged to have done something?

In that case, I’m sure 3/4 of the league should be suspended for failing to pay child support on the children allegedly fathered by them in various cities.

The Bears still got a great deal. Even if Marshall gets suspended (wrongfully) and misses a game or two… well, he’ll still be there for the Super Bowl.
----------------------------

For the answer to question #1, you should ask Big Ben's opinion on the subject.

Marshall will be lucky if he only gets 2 games off considering his past behavior.

As good as BM is, his numbers never put his teams over the top. Look at the records of the BRoncos and the Dolphins while he was there. He is a beast when he actually holds onto a ball, but the endzone is his cryptomite. Big numbers mean nothing if you choke in the endzones and not put wins on the board. Watched too many fin games where his drops in the endzone cost them a chance to win the game.

Yes, I realize BM is a "repeat offender" but I highly doubt Goodell is going to do anything to him for this.

Now if he were a Steeler, he'd have a lifetime ban.....

Worth it. A small nightclub spat vs. the worst receiving corps in the league. Discuss.
===========================

Did you just start following the NFL yesterday?

-On March 26, 2007, Marshall was arrested in the Highlands Ranch suburb of Denver on suspicion of domestic violence.

-On October 22, 2007, Marshall was arrested in the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area at the intersection of 14th and Blake St. for driving under the influence of alcohol

-September 17, 2008 solicitor's office in Fulton County, Georgia filed misdemeanor battery charges

-On March 1, 2009, Marshall was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct

-On April 23, 2011, Marshall was stabbed near his stomach by his wife

-On July 30, 2011, it was revealed that Marshall was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder

........So, um, yeah. A little more than a small nightclub spat. Have fun with that.

well the bears got a #1 wideout, but will he be allowed to play this year? i smell at least a 4 game suspension coming. all that talent marshal's got but yet he's not smart enough to stay out of trouble. it amaze's me that an nfl player can put himself into a great situation, but screw it up later?
...and he can be cut at any time with no salary cap implications.

Risk/reward analysis indicated he could be the best Bears WR since ....Johnny Morris.

So they traded (what amounts to) the overloved and overrated Greg Olsen and a third rounder for a three time Pro Bowl WR that has twice the stats of Vincent Jackson at 66% of the salary over the next 2-3 years.

All of a sudden the trade doesn't look all that bad. The PR nightmare for the Bears starts today, they put his talent in front of his respect for women. I can see the National Organization for Women gathering outside Bear games in protest. When the league is gaining alot of popularity/marketability with woman the league will have no choice but to come down very hard on this or suffer the same black eye as the woman BM hit. Stay classy Bears.

As A Lions Fan...

This doesn't scare me like the potential Super Mario signing. Im rooting for the Bills to get him cause to me it makes no sense for him to go to Buffalo. ANd doesnt affect the Lions a bit.

If the Bears sign Williams, Stafford (and all NFC North QB's) will have 2 rough games every year.

I do think the Bears got a good deal for 2 3rd rounders though.

“We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear.”

Translation: The numbers are there, who cares if he's a drunken, half-crazy, woman beating brute?

That's almost as bad as the offenders vowing in interviews "Not to put myself in that situation again."

It ain't the situation, Scummo, it's the decision you made in it! The decisions we make form our individual patterns of behavior, and history is said to repeat itself. So these GMs signing troubled players are just asking for future black eyes. I wonder if they have pre-written excuses prepared for the inevitable?

It's never good when your star player's face appears above the sports center anchor's shoulder during a broadcast. And it's not after a game.

True, whatever OG out of Utah we draft with your 3rd round will likely never be on sports center for any reason, BM is a major pain to have on your team.

People with borderline personalities tend to get worse as they age, becoming more bitter and alienated.

Honestly, he should retire from football and try to find a more level profession. He certainly should know better than put himself in volatile situations away from the game. His condition clearly is exasperated by a lack of common sense.

Miami is lucky to have gotten two picks for him at this point, and he'll be worth less and less as his life unravels.
