ReutersThe 49ers never offered a contract to free agent special teamer Blake Costanzo, so the Chicago Bears swooped in.
Costanzo signed a two-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday night, the San Francisco Chronicle confirms.
Costanzo, who turns 28 in April, racked up 17 special teams tackles for the 49ers in 2011. He won’t help Chicago much defensively, but is a playmaker in kickoff and punt coverage units.

Guy is a Special Teams beast…9ers couldn’t match that contract??
I guess they want a young guy who can do both (ST & D). Surprised though, the Bears will love his ST play…
Solid addition for the Bears fans. Sorry to see our Jersey guy go. Great work ethic, lots of energy. Good Luck, Blake.
