Bills’ Kyle Williams optimistic Mario Williams will join team

Kyle Williams AP

Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams said on Wednesday morning that after dining with Mario Williams on Tuesday night, he thinks the Bills have a good chance of landing the NFL’s top defensive free agent.

In an interview on WGR, Kyle Williams expressed optimism about Mario Williams, who is still in Buffalo this morning. Kyle said they had a good meeting over dinner along with members of the Bills’ front office and coaching staff, and that Mario seemed to like what he was hearing about the future of the Buffalo franchise.

Kyle said he told Mario that if he joins the Bills they’ll have the best defensive line in the NFL, and that Mario seemed to agree with that assessment.

Although Mario has reportedly scheduled at least one other visit that he wants to make before any decision about his future, the Bills will give him another pitch this morning before he leaves town. And it’s still possible that Mario won’t leave town at all, at least not until after he’s been introduced as Kyle’s newest teammate.

But is he optimistic the Bills can win games with him? Its called blind optimism. Kyle Williams has it.

The pass rush is going to be fun to watch for sure!

Just move to Toronto already and get it over with. This gets harder to watch every year.

Not as good as Jags d-line. Alualu, Potroast, Mincey and Super Mario? We rotate, and have always been a 4-3!

The new all-Williams D-Line, we’ve seen it in Minnesota and now it resurfaces in Buffalo. What a crazy league!! i love it! rotfflol!

Look at what Buffalo did with Merriman. Made him irrevelant.

The Bills didn’t make him irrelevant, his injuries did. Unless, of course, you’re speaking of making him “irrevelant”, as you state.

Merriman made Merriman irrelevant(learn how to spell it before using it in a sentence). The Bills didn’t injure him, thats what happens to players after taking roids. Go read up on it before assuming otherwise.

People hate on the Bills but have never spent a weekend in Buffalo. Try it sometime. You’ll have a blast.

I have to admit that Mario was a bit of a mystery watching him in Houston. One play he’d be all over the backfield and the next he was being handled by a TE.

Maybe it was the nagging groin issues or he just took plays off but it was hard to tell. Coach always praised him even if he seemed like he MIA during the game.

In any case, the Texans D didn’t miss a beat without him so go figure……..

    More than Buffalo does.

It pays to be a winner…

He was hurt and only played the first few games, but good job on your fact checking.

I won’t even hit you with some knowledge on how wrong you are, but I’m sure the last things rip does before lining up is check the upper decks. Push buffalo over the falls already.

    2011 Attendance Average
    JAX – 62,331 92.8%
    BUF – 62,694 85.8%

We’re in a very similar boat. Are we really starting an attendance argument?

    i mean really,.

nothing against buffalo,, but it’s buffalo. ask Marshawn how that area is.. I did hear they have 2 Fridays.. POPPIN OFF !!

money is money. though, buffalo is buffalo.

  28. numbersguy52 says: Mar 14, 2012 9:16 AM

This is why the NFL is the greatest sport in America. A city the size of Buffalo can outbid larger markets for the best free agent talent in the league.

    Take notes MLB!

  29. blackhairedlawyerssuck says: Mar 14, 2012 9:16 AM

@ dspyank2k11…Wow you are really up on your statitics for the league…average home attendance for Buffalo for 2011 62,694, 2011 home attendance for the Jags 62,331…a whopping difference of 363 people. Stop trying to dig on the Jags…you are a real comic, an uniformed one at that, totally dependent upon the bias national media to gather your information for you.

Dude – what is funny about those stats is that it doesn’t take into account the entire 4 sections that are covered by big tarps. The Jags number is calculated on only 67k seats. If Buffalo tarped over 4 full sections then our attendance record would be artificially inflated as well to around 100%. The Jax tarps are an embarrassment – don’t try to defend it anymore with your artificial figures.

  31. pmp300300 says: Mar 14, 2012 9:54 AM

Ask Marshawn how Buffalo was? The guy had a hit and run of a pedestrian. What’s he gonna tell us? Man…don’t go there…people tryin’ to cross the street man. Give me a break.

Buffalo bars close at 4am…major plus there.

While you’re right that Merriman made himself irrelevant, thanks to prior steroid abuse, everyone seemed to know he was done except Bills management.

  33. eddiemeredith says: Mar 14, 2012 10:10 AM

    @JoeToronto
Did they give up much for him? No. They knew he was an injury away from being irrelevant and they didn’t lose much. Its a situation that could of worked but didn’t.

For what it’s worth, Mario Williams spotted leaving Buffalo Medical Group office this morning. That would seem to be a physical, folks.

  35. havok82 says: Mar 14, 2012 10:28 AM

Keep dreaming. The only way he goes to Buffalo is if it’s all about money. I just don’t see it. He’s going to want too much for a lot of teams. He’ll either have to take a discount of sorts to go to a contender with semi-decent cap room or break the bank to go to a cellar dweller.

  36. letsgo2031 says: Mar 14, 2012 10:28 AM

Michael David Smith seems to hate the fact a big name will sign with buffalo before one would sign with his Detroit Lions

all his false reporting looks like jealousy.

Mario Williams has had a physical with Buffalo at 10:00 am this morning. They have an agreement in principle. Just reported by Buffalo media
