Cowboys sign two more: Guard Bernadeau, fullback Vickers

The Cowboys landed a top-ten free agent on Wednesday when cornerback Brandon Carr signed a five-year, $50.1 million contract to play in Dallas.

Jerry Jones’ club hasn’t stopped there.

The team announced Wednesday that fullback Lawrence Vickers has agreed to a two-year deal. Vickers figures to replace incumbent lead blocker Tony Fiammetta, who was not tendered as a restricted free agent.

A source also told ESPN Dallas’ Todd Archer that the Cowboys have agreed to a deal with interior offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau. Bernadeau, primarily a guard, is 26 years old and will likely provide depth in Dallas.

  1. Can’t wait to see how these contracts are structured. $25 million signing bonus with minimum salaries throughout, how’s that for a way around the NFL sanctions?

  2. Vickers is a beast. He can run and catch. And block a little bit. Just ask Arian Foster!

  3. They got better in the secondary and have Vickers paving the way for Demarco Murray in the running game while Romo coming off his best season. Watch out for the Boyz in blue!

  4. I think the Cowboys front office is finally starting to get it. Garrett and Stephen Jones deserve a lot of credit

  5. I wonder if health reason are why the boys didnt tender Fiammetta? He was great when he was healthy ..anybody know?

  6. Another bad move…who is Vickers? They had a know quantity in Fiammetta, who was superb in blocking for Murray. And they sign another back up, cast-off guard. Why, they already have an abundance of them on the roster! Neither signing makes any sense. Here’s betting they don’t make it out of training camp.

  7. Vickers is a bruising fullback that can catch and block. You people are seriously delusional. Texans cut him because he couldn’t do much of anything. James Casey was a much more productive FB than this guy.

  8. DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones just got the best run blocking fullback in the game. Congrats, Cowboys.

  9. The Cowboys biggest problem has been they can’t overcome injuries at key positions because they lack depth.

JJ likes to make a splash with big signings but never has foresight to back them up with solid reserve players.

Bottom line is he makes to many wholesale changes every year and put all his eggs in one basket

What the heck else do fullbacks do in the NFL *other* than catch and block?

He wanted too much money . . . also Garrett wanted a pure blocking FB ala Moose Johnston

  12. how many times will the cowboys sign a player and someone comment ” now sign a qb” that joke was funny two days after never… nixe signings ppl who are upset by solid role players?? not every1 need to be an 99 in madden for them to be good players in real life

  13. DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones just got the best run blocking fullback in the game. Congrats, Cowboys.

Uhhhh, that would be the FB the Texans walk in FA last year. Vonta Leach!

  14. A great day for the Cowboys. You fill a huge need in cornerback by signing Carr. Get Orton who I think is pretty underrated. Get guard depth and get a bruising fullback, a position they have lacked since the “Moose” Johnston days!

  15. I love how cowgirl fans refer to the moves jerrah makes as “we” (gmemm says:

The point is that we are improving our team period). When was anyone who is posting on PFT in on these meetings and negotiations? Further proving that cowgirl fans are reterds (for those who want to say I spelled retard wrong I did it on purpose).
