He was already set to make almost $10 million under the franchise tag, so he is only getting another $5 million guaranteed. Pierre Garcon got $22 million guaranteed and Laurent Robinson got 14$ million guaranteed. Desean is as good if not better than either of those guys. He is not an all around receiver but he does stretch the field and open things up for other guys. $50 mil sounds like a lot but essentially they can cut him after a few years if its not working out. $15 million guaranteed is not that bad considering what the market has been so far for receivers this free agency period.

Here is some fuel for all the haters…..DeSean Jackson is a better receiver then Megatron and/or Fitz……….wait for it……………the reasoning that he is better is that he is not eating up extreme portions of cap space. While Mega and Fitz are better complete receivers, Desean gives you a certain x factor that keeps defensive co-ordinators up at night and safeties on their heels. Again, yes Mega & Fitz are better – they go over the middle with reckless abandon and can beat triple coverage. The difference is that you can have 3 DeSeans for one of them. Maybe a Tulloch and a longterm contract for Shady and an extension for Maclin……

oh and if he goes back to form, he is a special teams beast. it is actually funny that the G-Men hate him so much, as if it wasn’t for him they may not have even made the SB this year……..he burned their punter for a last second TD….they release said punter and his replacement quietly makes possibly the best hold on a botched snap in NFL history in the NFC champ game…………….

He is a unique talent that can’t be judge based solely on stats. Jackson is such a deep threat that he opens up the field for every other WR and McCoy as well. Look at how far back teams have to play Desean because he is such a deep threat. It is ridiculous. Then you have to take is abilities as a punt returner. He can turn the game around on one play. This is a good move by the Eagles. Desean Jackson is young and immature at times, but he isn’t Terrell Owens. There is alot more good then bad when it comes to Desean. This is the best move the Eagles have made yet, because it opens up everything else on their offense. Now teams have to worry about Desean, McCoy, Maclin, Vick Running. It is a scary offense if Vick stays healthy.
