Eagles extend Trent Cole

At a time when plenty of teams are signing players to new contracts, the Eagles are taking care of players who already are on the team.

On Tuesday, guard Todd Herremans agreed to terms on an extension.  On Wednesday, the Eagles announced a four-year extension with defensive end Trent Cole.

Cole was already under contract through 2013, at base salaries of $2.9 million and $3.4 million, respectively, over the next two seasons.

A fifth-round draft pick in 2005, Cole became a full-time starter in his second season.  He has 68 career sacks, including three straight double-digit seasons.

If only they had done that with Dawkins, Akers, and every other vested vet they let go so they could build the damn Dream Team…

Awesome, the most productive 5th rounder in team history. Here’s to more great years, congrats to a well deserving player, along with Herremans.

Good to see the Stock Broker back in midnight green – he deserved the extension.

LeSean McCoy. I repeat. LESEAN MCCOY. Resign him first as his value only keeps increasing.

Good for him. This guy earned his money.

Thats good. Herremans and Cole have been rocks.

    Now get on McCoy. Immediately.

No need to make alot of chages when you have the “dream team.”

    Better than Mario

Trent Cole looked like the greatest DE to ever play the game last year against the Falcons against their LT Sam Baker. Turnstile City.

What a concept – a high character, low drama guy paid for actual production.

  15. jcshiflett says: Mar 14, 2012 9:47 AM

Good deal, he deserves it! Now work on locking up McCoy for the long haul

hahah the “knew” contract line cracked me up.. i can only assume it was a joke…

Trent Cole is a man’s man. Dude hunts game in his free time and QBs at his desk job.

Now, if we can get one more beast DT,, we will have the 2nd best DL in the league,, & thats no fantasy or wishfull thinking..

(giants have #1 on lock for a few more years)

haha, its funny, because its clever and original.

    Way to go!

These are solid moves but they need to lock down Shady McCoy before camp starts. #2 RB in the NFL last year, PAY THE MAN.

  19. ebeg420 says: Mar 14, 2012 9:55 AM

Good move, Cole is a BEAST

  20. kevsright says: Mar 14, 2012 9:55 AM

    Good move on Cole.
Now, time to get rid of Bad Newz Vick…

  21. myeaglescantwin says: Mar 14, 2012 9:55 AM

the past two moves are restoring some confidence in the eagles brass .. stressing ‘SOME’ confidence.

These moves are locking up the key contributors on each side of the line,, while freeing up money for both LeSean and DeSean,, with enough left over for any other ‘__-Seans’ that wanna score touchdowns..

  22. cbs1971 says: Mar 14, 2012 9:56 AM

I new that Cole would get a knew contract.

    He deserves it!

  23. phillyrick22 says: Mar 14, 2012 10:10 AM

Im happy with the moves so far. To hell with over-spending for over-rated talent this year. Im glad the birds are taking care of their own players. Maybe this team can become a ‘TEAM’ and make a run!

  24. fabulousfausy says: Mar 14, 2012 10:32 AM

Love the moves but we need to resign McCoy yet. Only thing I want is lofton or Tulloch we are on win now mode good veterans and only 26 and 27 then draft DT OR OLB I think our saftey will be fine there still very young.
