ReutersAdam Caplan of Sirius NFL Radio reports that the Chiefs will host free agent tight end Kevin Boss at their club headquarters on Thursday.
The Chiefs wanted John Carlson earlier in the day, but they weren’t going to match the Vikings’ $25 million offer for a player who didn’t even play a snap in 2011.
Boss isn’t quite as athletic as Carlson, but he’s a much better blocker and could free up Tony Moeaki for a bigger role in Kansas City’s receiving game.

Come to Miami….we could use a tight end!
I’m sure he probably will. Chiefs will drag their feet and lose another one.
I haven’t been a Chiefs fan that screams to go sign every free agent in the world and rarely criticize them for being relatively inactive for FA. It’s been proven time and time again chasing these huge money free agents doesn’t work. However, the Chiefs have some holes and have yet to sign a player to fill it. Extremely irritated, they are going to have to get in the mix if they wanna play.
Concussion issues make signing him a risky proposition. Especially with the new CBA.
I guess that means that Moeaki can’t block at all.
With Boss out, look for the emergence of David Ausberry at TE for the Raiders.
The Chiefs are hopeless. It sucks being a Chiefs fan.
Nobody wants to play here anymore because ownership and GM is such jerks.
Update: When picking up the phone call from his agent, Kevin Boss suffered another concussion and the status for his meeting with the Chiefs has been changed to doubtful.
Confusing. Blocking was a liability for him in Oakland.
I still think he may return to the Giants along with Steve Smith
Another injury prone player that was average at his best we get to show the door to!!!! Thank you Reggie for cleaning up the mess and kicking this organization in the right direction…I cant wait to see what you have next for the Raider Nation to feast upon!!!! Its time to bring in the”Aus” and let this boy be the TE he can be…this dude is bad ass!!!!
