LaRon Landry has four suitors

landrygiant0212-e1330035559302-1

When we last checked in with safety LaRon Landry, his skin should have been green.  The green may now be heading into this pockets.

Per a league source, four teams are interested in the sixth pick in the 2007 draft, whose rookie deal with the Redskins expired Tuesday.  The candidates are the Jets, Eagles, Lions, and Patriots.

It’s unknown when he’ll visit any of the teams, or who will get the first crack.  The Lions, with Calvin Johnson’s new megadeal, presumably freed up plenty of cap space to allow other players to be signed.

    That photo is disturbing.

In a Bob Sanders my muscles will pop off my bones kind of way.

  2. fringetastic says: Mar 14, 2012 1:42 PM

LaRon, when healthy is a good player. But he is fragile.

And no, I would not say that to his face. Or biceps.

  3. isetheskyonfire says: Mar 14, 2012 1:44 PM

u kno what bob sanders and landry have in common? there both ripped but they can’t stay healthy although I think the team landry signs with will be happy cuz I think his injury history is in the past

    chargers

  5. myspaceyourface says: Mar 14, 2012 1:45 PM

That dude is ripped. I never realized how big he is.

  6. gonzo7 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:46 PM

they might also want to sign a backup, since he will be suspended for steroids at somepoint

  7. burnzy32 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:46 PM

Come to Detroit with all the other beasts!! SUH, MEGATRON, and hopefully the Incredible Hulk!

  8. cereal blogger says: Mar 14, 2012 1:46 PM

Landy will be playing DE next year right ? Is it true he’s working out with David Boston ?

  9. eessppnn says: Mar 14, 2012 1:46 PM

Never healthy, gym freak not game changer!

  10. godofware says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

He doesn’t look like a safety anymore. Move this guy to LB

  11. rg3isvictory says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

#30 was the best player on the field for the Skins for several years. I wish he’d stay around but you have to make all the money you
can when the opportunity presents itself. Skins fans salute you #30 and thank you for all the excitement and for that nasty hit on M. Vick a few seasons back! You’re a monster!!! I’m jelly and hope he moves to the AFC if he’s not coming back.

  12. Broncofanatic7 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

    Oh my PED’s….. That’s a safety?!

  13. nyyjetsknicks says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

He has 4 suitors and will be suspended 4 games for PEDs.

  14. azheat says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

His arms are bigger than his head…lol

  15. urlacherbacker says: Mar 14, 2012 1:47 PM

I am guessing whatever is in that container may be claissified as preformance enhancing??

  16. hittable says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

With that upper body mass and a bad Achilles tendon, good luck! (assuming he passes drug tests for PEDs)

  17. robolundgren says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

That picture is a bad photoshop. First, his bicep isnt bigger than his head, secondly, there’s a line going straight across from his shoulder that makes an indent in the top of his left pec. Dude’s still a beast, but whoever did that can surely do better.

  18. randygnyc says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

    That is one H U G E dude

  19. benh999 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

  21. parlett316 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

So long Area 51. That secondary would have been insane. Good luck in your future endeavors LaRon.

  22. sstring18 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

    sign him

  23. kosarsmyidol says: Mar 14, 2012 1:48 PM

On the plus side, if he happens to get suspended for PED use, his new team would save money.

  24. thankheavenfornumberseven says: Mar 14, 2012 1:49 PM

Of course the Vikings aren’t interested. They have no safeties, but they just spent all their money on an underachieving backup tight end.

  25. shibbet says: Mar 14, 2012 1:49 PM

He probably takes 2 scoops of protein…

  26. tjacks7 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:49 PM

I can’t begin to understand how the Vikings have made no attempt to sign a S, CB, LB, or WR with no viable candidates currently on the roster.

  27. halo81 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:49 PM

Holy hell he has gotten huge.

  28. philsbirdsflyers says: Mar 14, 2012 1:50 PM

He got exploited in pass coverage every time the Eagles faced him, but he’d still be an upgrade over our sorry excuse for safeties. Can’t deny the potential – go for it, Birds.

  29. laeaglefan says: Mar 14, 2012 1:50 PM

I can’t see the Eagles getting into a bidding war for this guy. They’ll give him their best offer and that will be that.

  30. letsrestoretheroar says: Mar 14, 2012 1:50 PM

    Bring em to the D!

  31. cotts1 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:51 PM

Geez that dude is ripped. Steroids?

  32. rickastleydancemoves says: Mar 14, 2012 1:51 PM

I’m not sure how a 240 lb “safety” is going to cover slot receivers and tights ends when he was never fluid when he was smaller.

  33. hendawg21 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:51 PM

Oh he’s good for about 8 games per year…great talent when healthy but that’s the big issue or else the Skins would’ve never let him hit the market…back to back injury plagued seasons and resisting surgery on the achilles instead vying for alternative healing procedures makes him a risk for anyone who signs him to a long term deal.

  34. dequan81 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:51 PM

At one point I would have loved for the Boys to sign him, but I don’t think he’ll be that effective anymore. I mean look at him. Plus he’s injury prone.

  35. 1972wasalongtimeago says: Mar 14, 2012 1:52 PM

He’s a steroid suspension waiting to happen

  36. spytdi says: Mar 14, 2012 1:52 PM

Inside Linebacker? The Ghost of David Boston returns…

  37. realitypolice says: Mar 14, 2012 1:52 PM

Holy hell, that guy’s a SAFETY!?!?

  38. mightyleemoon says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

Bucs. They’re buying up everything else…why not this as well.

  39. chiadam says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

The finest specimen ever to come out of a needle.

  40. asw1028 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

He is poor in coverage, he misses a lot of tackles trying to make highlight reel hits and from the looks of it he is using steroids. If his original team doesn’t want him shouldn’t that be a warning sign to other teams?

  41. wingz101 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

How much can he realistically be looking for with his injury history? I can’t see the Lions being big spenders on this guy because his is a high injury risk and they alreay have that issue with another key player, Louis Delmas.

As far as I am concerned, he has “JETS” written all over him.

  42. Stiller43 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

    I’ll say the lions.

If for no other reason, because he was wearing a red wings hat in one of those muscle man pics.

  43. Lev says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

    The New Bob Sanders

  44. phillyfreak24 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:53 PM

  49. JackLeone says: Mar 14, 2012 1:55 PM

Go to Philly!! That way, you knock the Skins around

  50. 6ball says: Mar 14, 2012 1:55 PM

    .

All outcomes favor Patriots / Landry on this one. Potential outcomes :

    A. Landry signs with Pats

    B. Landry signs with NFC team

    C. Landry signs with Jets who will have no choice but to overpay.

My professional respect to Mr. Landry ‘s agent for putting his client in such an advantageous position.

    .

  51. coldaszice says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

Sorry LaRon! Skins Nation can no longer hold on! Slow down on the body buliding, to much of it is hurting you! Your a Strong Safety not a DT!! Have surgery on the achilles or slim down a bit and stretch your career. Ultimately its your decision. We cant afford to roll the dice on you anymore!

  52. greatdanton77 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

The HGH has ruined him. Have fun watching him in all of 2 games..maybe.

  53. calihawk says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

Only if he was more ripped, he would have more teams after him. Damn

  54. sb50 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

I would love for him to come to the eagles but ive hated him ever since he became a redskin

  55. peezwizz says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

  56. clayton43 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:56 PM

I think I could take him at arm wrestling.

  58. dbones750 says: Mar 14, 2012 1:57 PM

that dude needs to get checked out, he got some toomers

  59. datskinzdude says: Mar 14, 2012 1:58 PM

I will hate to see my man go but for the record, this was a photo shop picture. You can see it over his right shoulder blade and/or compare to recent pictures taken of him. When healthy, this guy is a beast on the field and loves to hit people in the mouth without drawing flags.

  60. dalfanforever says: Mar 14, 2012 1:59 PM

Until this dude gets surgery, buyer beware!

  61. anaheim2dafullest says: Mar 14, 2012 1:59 PM

i hope the packers sneak up and sign this guy

  62. waussau says: Mar 14, 2012 2:00 PM

    3 games a year max.

  63. vike4life says: Mar 14, 2012 2:00 PM

Why aren’t the Vikings on this list? Everyone knows they need 2 safeties

  64. getadealdonealready says: Mar 14, 2012 2:00 PM

He looks completely natural in that pic, at least there appear to be no performance enhancing products at work here.

  65. Awol.West says: Mar 14, 2012 2:00 PM

fans of all 4 teams: bring him in!

  66. tonytapsalot says: Mar 14, 2012 2:01 PM

He would be a huge asset to the New England secondary. He is the type of saftey that every receiver fears coming across the middle.

  67. scoobyscraps says: Mar 14, 2012 2:01 PM

I sure wish the Bengals would make a run at this guy. I did realize how much of a beast he is!

  68. variablexonfootball says: Mar 14, 2012 2:02 PM

Hey, they photoshopped Laron’s head on my picture!

  69. EJ says: Mar 14, 2012 2:02 PM

Scary looking dude! Are those arms or legs attached to his shoulders? Wow!

  70. mykelane says: Mar 14, 2012 2:10 PM

hey lets bring in the guy that spit in the face of our C and promised to concuss our WR.. yeah that’s a smart idea.

  71. jessethegreat says: Mar 14, 2012 2:11 PM

I do feel bad for the Skins here. If Sean Taylor wasn’t murdered, they would have had one of the best safety tandems in the league the past few years.

You gotta believe LaRon would be more likely to stay if they had another stud like Taylor back there with him.

  72. ebeg420 says: Mar 14, 2012 2:25 PM

Dude, I feel bad for those sleeves on that shirt!! That isn’t photoshopped, that man is JACKED!!!

  73. wicky888 says: Mar 14, 2012 2:32 PM

Photoshopped. Start looking under his chin and you will see a line straight across to his right shouldler, the upper section (darker shirt) is actually him, the lower section (lighter shirt) is some other freakishly large man

  74. kylemc1986 says: Mar 14, 2012 2:35 PM

As a skins fan I say good riddance. This guy is an underachiever who has never put together a full season and only cares about himself. Should’ve drafted AP!!!

  75. paleface1976ll says: Mar 14, 2012 2:36 PM

Laron landry come detroit man, we need a real one.

  76. drexelvol says: Mar 14, 2012 2:39 PM

He really just never turned out to be the player they thought he would be.

  77. pastorbobs says: Mar 14, 2012 2:39 PM

Longtime skins fan. Laron Landry is a monster when healthy. He is fast, hits hard, has good hands, and instincts. A natural strong safety, maybe one of the best in the league when healthy. His presence in the backfield changes the defense so much for the better. He works hard and is a good teammate.

The problem is he needs achilles tendon surgery, and he has continually refused to do it. He needed it last year after the 2010 season, he wanted to try other remedies, and he stayed hurt in 2011. He still needs it now. Because he refuses surgery he can’t stay on the field. He was off the field way too much last year, and was only partially effective when he did play because he is hurt.

If I was a GM I would sign him in a heartbeat, only if he agrees to repair his achilles surgically. Maybe some performance based deal for 2012, with the clear language that if he is not healthy for 2012 then he goes under the knife, or is cut without future money.

  78. trainerschoice says: Mar 14, 2012 2:41 PM

LaRon Landry sure would look good in Black and Gold…hint hint Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis…WHO DAT?!?

  79. paleface1976ll says: Mar 14, 2012 2:44 PM

Laron landry come to detroit we need you, a real one, just stay healthy

  80. janvanflac says: Mar 14, 2012 2:51 PM

Eagles fans surely remember him doing a face plant on the first play of that MNF game when D. Jackson scored on an 88 yd TD. But then again no one else would have been able to close on the ball.

  81. alaricsrevenge says: Mar 14, 2012 2:55 PM

He should come to Philly..that way he doesn’t have to worry about getting burned by DJax at least twice a year.

  82. thcnote says: Mar 14, 2012 3:00 PM

Put that picture in the opposing locker room and no WR will go inside the numbers.

  83. huskersrock1 says: Mar 14, 2012 3:02 PM

No way would I pay top dollar for this guy.

  84. baddegg says: Mar 14, 2012 3:17 PM

He will be injured this year.

  85. jeremyshire says: Mar 14, 2012 3:27 PM

LaRon Landry is a BEAST!!! He shops at the same Supplement store as I do in Slidell, Lousiana. Trainer’s Choice Vitamins, Supplements, and Nutritional Products…Check em out if you want to get JACKED like LaRon!

  86. blkmanwtan says: Mar 14, 2012 3:36 PM

Last year, Skin fans were talking about how Carlos Rodgers wasn’t a good corner and couldn’t catch. Carlos Rodgers went to a team with a better defensive scheme and coach, and performed at a pro bowl level.
This year it is now injury prone LeRon Landry. I bet this guy will play at a pro bowl level like Carlos Rodgers and do not get injured because the team and coaching staff will be better than the staff in DC.

  87. orakpownd says: Mar 14, 2012 3:59 PM

    No Blkmanwtan

We said Carlos is good at coverage but he cant catch. He was told to look into contact lenses but didnt…Guess what happened…Niners made him get his eyes checked…look what happened.

  88. jkrc717 says: Mar 14, 2012 6:10 PM

Landry when healthy is one of the top safeties in this league. He was always ripped.

I hear that he doesnt need achilles tendon surgery. He has bone spurs and is trying alternative ways to heal.

Just heal up with whatever it takes and all is good.

  89. steelcityrapist says: Mar 14, 2012 11:14 PM

    DIRTY 30 IS ALWAYS HURT.

  90. bleedgreen11 says: Mar 15, 2012 3:09 AM

that dude needs to lay off the steroids.

  91. oldbyrd says: Mar 15, 2012 9:14 AM

The problem is if he can stay healthy and I doubt it. Very vain guy. There are others and our Temple kid will be a good one…watch! Far to much risk for the price he will be seeking…….stay away Birds as an old weight lifter, those muscles can become a problem and you must constantly keep flexible
