Kevin Acee of the Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Patriots have scheduled a meeting with free agent safety Steve Gregory.

Gregory has played nickel back and both safety positions, as well as special teams in his career. Bill Belichick appreciates versatility in defensive backs, and Gregory fits that profile.

Gregory turned 29 in January. He should be available for a relatively cheap deal. Gregory is a former undrafted free agent out of Syracuse.
