Well, as much as I see us advancing throughout the WR positions, Moss is a better than Royal. Basically, what the Redskins are doing are replacing Moss--not getting rid of him. Moss is a slot receiver, much like Royal, but he's also an X-factor, something we can't afford to lose. They going to keep him, he's too much of an asset.

But, Stallworth, Armstrong, Paul and Banks could be getting the boot. Armstrong was signed to be a DeSean Jackson type player for McNabb -- he wasn't used much last year because he didn't match the offensive style. Stallworth was cut last year, tho he was an important piece in the offense last year, he will not return. Banks is a waste a the position, KR yes but WR no -- we can't use a better KR, who can double as WR: Eddie Royal. Plus, Banks has no moves.

Paul is a blocking receiver, I'm not sure about him but he could be getting the boot onto Practice Squad.

They need to find a way to keep Tana. His veteran leadership would be huge among all the young skill position players at Redskin Park. Another poster here said cut Stallworth or Paul to keep Moss, and I agree cut Stallworth but keep Niles Paul! That guy is a beast! Gaffes could go too and that would be fine.

How could you not want to keep Santana moss on the roster? He's going to be making less than josh Morgan and what has Morgan done in the nfl? Moss could be a huge contributor in the slot this this season. Much more than Eddie royal who isn't even signed yet and prefers to be out wide.

Getting rid of Moss would be like the Panthers getting rid of Steve Smith, they are the same player just on different teams. This better be just a story to get hits and get Skins fans wrawled up. Moss better stay a Skin. I'm moving on to another topic now. Have a good day.

Change is inevitable, but with Moss I don't think that overall production, or even consistency, is what's most important to evaluate.

He's been the most dangerous guy on the team for many years. Probably still is. He has shown the ability to turn a game on a dime like few other people can. To not even have that kind of game-changing option available seems like a rash choice to me. Some other team is going to be very glad if he's let go.

As a Cowboys fan, I know what I'm saying.

I can't imagine Moss in another jersey. He's a Redskin, and needs to retire as so. Besides, having veteran minds like him on offense and Fletch on Defense is what we need with these young guys coming in. I'd cut Gaffney and Stallworth before I cut Moss, though I'm sure there's something in $$ or contracts I'm not taking into consideration.

Redskins... DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT get rid of Santana Moss. He is the most reliable wr the Skins have (runs great routes, catches everything and clutch 3rd down wr). I watch every Skins game and this guy is by far the best offensive player we have, big mistake. Get rid of Donte Stallworth, Niles Paul or another wr before Moss. Thank you

I know it's all about the cap, but Moss is without question a better receiver than Eddie Royal, and that includes playing from the slot.

Royal's a genuinely good guy and he may be able to reclaim the magic he had his rookie year under Shanahan...or he might end up missing more time to injuries like what has happened to him the last two years.

Perhaps, but not as rough as it's going to be for Andrew Luck. Say what you will about my 'Skins, but they'll be a durn sight better than the Colts next year. Especially since the 'Skins are moving to improve RGIII's supporting cast.

Just like it's been noted for years, Moss would make a fantastic slot receiver. If he would take the role of that (which it looks like that's Royal's job now), we would be much better off.

Always a difficult thing to let go of a staple of a franchise, but Skins Nation wishes him the best.

For all their movement in FA already, they still have the worst WR corp in the NFC East (on paper of course) by far.

A few years ago they drafted three pass catchers in the first two rounds. I guess they figured they need to try the same tactic but with free agency instead....like that was the issue.

Of course the problem is that Gaffney had 20 more receptions and 350 yds more than Moss and was active for more games than him.
I am confused on which one of the two will be let go.

I like Moss and he's been a nice player for the Skins through the years, but the time has probably come for him to move on.

Oddly, this salary cap punishment might actually force the Redskins to make some smarter moves.

Could it be that going for Royal, Morgan, and Garcon -- three very young receivers, good character guys with high upsides -- may actually be better for the club than signing Jackson, who is older and who has character issues?

And could it be that it will force them to make tough decisions on guys like Landry and Moss, that perhaps should be made regardless? I'm a bit bummed about Moss, because I think he has been a good team player, but I think he's odd man out at this point and Royal may be better at this stage of his career.

The only "older" guy I want to see the commit to is Fletcher. He is a leader on defense and more than just a linebacker who can be replaced by another talented player...
