APNFL Network’s Steve Wyche reports that the Seahawks will host tight end Visanthe Shiancoe for a free agent visit “within the next few days.”
Shiancoe knows Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell well from their time together in Minnesota.
The Vikings signed John Carlson to a five-year deal worth $25 million earlier Wednesday, so Shiancoe won’t be returning.
So it looks like he may take his “talents” to Seattle, where Shiancoe would likely back up Zach Miller.

Crank of Shank is quite impressive
What happened to this guy; at one point it seemed like he was going to blow up and now he is a backup who’s original team signed Carlson over him?
(Nice job by the way Vikes, you got worked again although Carlson was surprisingly impressive his rookie year. He still should have received a “show me” contract…)
Taking in the Vikes’ garbage is exactly what I like to see out of the 9ers’ divisional foe!
Hope we get a QB that won’t just lol for Sidney Rice. ” cough ” T-jack
Hope we get a QB that won’t just look for Sidney Rice. ” cough ” T-jack
(Insert any ex-Viking name) is set to visit the Seahawks.
Vikings West.
Ever since they got scorned by the Hutchinson deal, they keep going after Viking castoffs and giving them tons of money. And yet, not a single one has panned out for them. Get over it already.
why didnt we just keep carlson instead of tryin to swap with the vikes again
Hmm, wasn’t Gabbert the can’t loose QB pick of last years draft?
Wonder what will happen with all of this years “can’t miss” QB’s.
What is with the Vikings and Seahawks going after each others crappy players.
This would be actually a very nice TE combo of Shiancoe and Zach Miller if……and this is a huge if…… of course there were at least a serviceable QB that understands that he can’t hold onto the ball for 10 seconds in the pocket. If Tjack were going to figure it out, he woulda done it by now. Whether or not Flynn is legit he’s got to be an upgrade over another year of Jackson.
Shank has talent but the bikes are rebuilding. He will be close to done when they are ready to contend. Carlson is almost 5 years younger and the true price will be about the same.
shank did fine with farve not ponder. too bad, yes, vikings west. Build a team for 2009 & 2010 and that’s it? uh
The Seahawks owner is so predictable. I told a buddy of mine after the Vikings signed John Carlson that the Seahawks would probably try to “retaliate” by signing Shiancoe. lol, it didn’t take him long.
It’s just like the move to pay Nate Burleson 42 million after the Vikings nabbed Hutch for $42 million.
That said, Shiancoe is a solid pass catching TE who will be a major asset to the Seahawks passing game, he just isn’t much of a blocker.
Oh boy Carlson @ $11 mill guaranteed is SUCH a big risk….unlike overpaying T Joke and S Rice.
Tjack got 8mil total.
What the hell is going on is Seattle bringing all the vikings over to seattle?
Visanthe Shiancoe is a back up TE but on a 3-13 team like the vikings he got to start. I cannot see the Seahawks wasting any money on such an unproductive player like Visanthe Shiancoe who has nothing to offer.
The vikings were smart to draft a TE in the 2nd round last season and now sign Carlson. They desperately needed an upgrade over Shiancoe.
Now the vikings must somehow find a replacement for McNabb at QB to jump start their anemic offense because they cannot run the ball with Peterson on the PUP list.

You mean predictable like he knows the offense already because the offensive coordinator came from the Vikings and the Seahawks are looking for a legit back up Tight End; you mean that kind of predictable?
I don’t buy into this retaliation theory between the Vikings and Seahawks. Schneider would not be the GM if Ruskell had not allowed the Vikings to set him up for the embarrassing Hutchinson debacle. Hutch provides the Seahawks with veteran leadership and a short term fix at guard until they move Carpenter inside and get a real tackle.
Gotta love the Vikings/Seahawks carrousel over the last decade
Shank Dong! You were large for the Vikes…Thanks wish you all the luck…btw that was a td at GB…If Vikes would have won that game they would have never been in the Super Bowl, go figure love the refs!
Super Bowl Homeboy
Viking fan, now that’s predictable.
Bros before Schiancoes!!!

If Bevell is such an offensive genius, why did he encourage the Seahawks to pick up Tavaris “TJoke” Jackson? Why did the Vikings fire him?
Just saying…
Maybe Shiancoe can drop an easy TD pass from T-Jack and cost T-Jack his job again, like he did against Indy in 2008.
Seriously? Why are you Hawk fans defending TJoke, the guy is a waste of a roster spot. He is, flat out, the worst QB in the league. Straight up.
The vikings…..if you think about it they are like a mirror image of the seahawks. Both are simply average..90% OF THE TIME
the seahawks are either akin to a bitter ex-girlfriend or some immature high school rival… we (The Vikings) take their stud lineman in the prime of his career… they break the bank on Nate Burleson. We take their young stud tight end… they take a look back on their now washed up and former stud lineman and bring in our past his prime TE…Lets also not forget that Seattle signed away Tavaris Jackson… on the first day of free agency to a pretty hefty contract for that guy with that ability.
sad, just sad…
I wish the Dave Kreig Seahawks tried to be our rival… this current version just looks pathetic.
Shiancoe a darn good player. The guy has great hands, but his blocking is sub-par, still a very good player to have on your team. I’m sorry to see him go. He’s just a victim of the Vike’s youth moment and the fact they drafted a tight end in the 2nd round last year.
The only Viking that I hated seeing go to Seattle was John Randle. He was the man.
ZNORSE- First off, we are the ones who let Carlson walk bro. We have a lot more cap space then you’re Vikes (FACT) who can’t even afford a new stadium (SARCASM) because you’re state is bankrupt, HAHA!!! Why would we pay 2 TE’s (Miller,Carlson) starting money? Like you, I told my buddy watch the Vikings take our left over garbage like they always do because thier owner, and front office don’t know how to draft. So, they have hve to overpay for aging FA’s, LMFAO. Just like if we wanted to keep Hutch, Ruskell would have franchised him that year, and not transition tagged him slick. Ruskell didn’t wanna pay that kind of money at the time for a OG. Don’t get me wrong, Ruskell was an idiot, but it’s still the fact. BTW, Shiancoe knows Bevell’s “O”, and will only require backup money, so why wouldn’t we take him? I love when these tools make themselves such easy targets on here, HAHA. Good luck with rebuilding your team for the next 5-10 years. You can only dream of turning over a roster as well, and fast as the Hawks have/are doing under Carroll/Shnieder. You should dump Peterson now, and save some money!
Nineroutsider- Just like we picked up Michael Robinson after you released him. A year later he is a Pro Bowl FB, LOL…. A Pro Bowl FB who played for the Vet. minimum= winning dude. Don’t hate… You, and your 1 year wonder, fluke 49ers who have been garbage this entire millenium. Consequently, since the Hawks came into the division!
