The Tennessee Titans will attempt to bring Peyton Manning home to Tennessee by, well, bringing him home to Tennessee.
Despite initial reports that Manning would meet with Titans coaches in Indianapolis, the Associated Press reports that Peyton was picked up in North Carolina, where he has been rehabbing his neck/arm, and brought to Nashville to meet at the team’s facility.
Specifically, coach Mike Munchak, G.M. Ruston Wesbter, and team president Mike Reinfeldt made the trip to Raleigh to fetch Manning. The question now becomes whether they’ll let him leave.
He has visited three teams: the Broncos, Cardinals, and Titans. One other team, the Dolphins, visiting Manning in Indianapolis.
No timetable has been set for a decision. By Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Cardinals must decide whether to cut or trade quarterback Kevin Kolb -- or to keep him and owe him another $7 million. The Dolphins also are risking that a potential Plan B, Matt Flynn, will sign with another team.
Manning attended the University of Tennessee. The Titans play in the AFC South, which means that Peyton would face the Colts twice in 2012. If he returns to Tennessee to continue his career, at least he won’t look like a giant circus peanut when in uniform.
