It was clear from the way we refused to prostrate ourselves, like Miami have, that we only had interest if we were an overwhelming favourite. Having established Peyyton wanted to talk to other teams, we passed.

Whether he was interested, intrigued or disinterested was irrelevant at that point.

For what it’s worth, it would have been lunacy to build a staff and team for ground & pound then tried to plug Peyton in. It would have been absurd to rip it all up for him – as we learned to our cost in 2008.
