I am a huge Aggie fan, but I just don't get this at all. Are teams so desperate that they are going to reach that high up in the first round for this guy?

It would make much more sense to either trade the pick away for all you can get, or draft best player available, even if it is at a position that a team doesn't necessarily need.

babyhorsemorgan says:

Tannehill is a better athlete than Griffin for the position. Griffin just runs fast in a straight line. . I think Tannehill is ahead in both departments. Ryan doesn’t have a lot of experience as a passer, but did well with what he had. I think he has the same chance to succeed, and doesn’t come with the overinflated ego that Gruesome the Third brings.
===================

Big 12 Qb rating:
RGIII: 189 (first in conference)
Tannehill: 133 (sixth in conference)

Big 12 completion percentage:
RGIII: 72.4% (first)
Tannehill: 61.6% (sixth)

TD/Int ratio:
RGIII: 37td/6int
Tannehill: 29td/15int

So, umm.. what were you saying again?

The reason teams were unwilling to take a chance on a highly drafted rookie QB in the first round, used to be because of the ridiculous pay they commanded. Basically, you were stuck starting the guy no matter what simply ecause of his cap number.

With the rookie cap, it makes a lot more sense for teams to go get the guy they want rather than hope he'll be there in round 2. Draft "experts" have been ridiculously slow in adjusting their rankings with this fact in mind, which misleads fans into thinking certain players will be available at such-and-such a point. That old logic no longer applies.

My guess is that a team is going to like his athleticism, and take a shot on him in round 1. The question really is, how high in round 1?

At first, I thought "no way" as well. But then I started thinking. Knowing that Luck and RGIII are as good as gone, that makes Tannehill the #1 QB available in the 2012 draft. And as has been said many times before, if your team needs a QB, what price wouldn't you pay to get one? Swap #1's with the Vikings and give the Vikings your #2 or #3? It's either that or wait until round 2 or 3 and "hope" you get your QB of the future? Too many teams, too little QB's available.

I mean, really.

All these people on here saying that signing Matt Flynn, who had two outstanding starts for GB and won a BCS Title in college is a bad risk because of the small sample size of his experience.

But it's OK to use a top 5 pick on a guy who is a converted WR who wasn't even very successful in college.

Ryan Tannehill is a second round talent that was projected to sneak into the top 20 because of the dearth of QBs.

Now he is top 5? Good lord, these GMs can talk themselves into anything.

That would be great if someone is acutally willing to trade up to #3 for this guy. A) It would keep the "brain trust" in Cleveland from drafting him. B) The Browns could have the two best tackles in the NFL or trade down if someone wanted Kahil. Otherwise, the Fatman in Cleveland is going to have himself a new signal caller.

@txbearmeat-I think the Kevin Kolb factor is hurting Flynn. We've seen too little of him for anyone to give him a huge salary, and declare him the starter.

Considering Miami hasn't reached out to him, with Philbin there that's probably a red flag for other teams.

This is total crap. And keep it coming.

If people keep hyping up every primate that has ever thrown a football for this draft, then Justin Blackmon AND Matt Kalil will be there for the Panthers at #9. Keep up the hype, y'all!!!!!!
