Getty ImagesThe Arizona Cardinals released offensive tackle Levi Brown on Monday in order to avoid paying a hefty roster bonus.
But they want him back.
Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic is “hearing” that Brown is close to re-signing with the team. Prior to Brown’s release, the sides were negotiating a potential long-term agreement. So the interest in keeping Brown in Arizona has always been mutual.
Somers suggests Brown could return to play right tackle in 2012. The Cardinals signed Adam Snyder on Wednesday to play right guard.
Even if Brown re-signs, the Cardinals would likely still need a new left tackle.

Isn’t Arizona over the cap?
Manning to tennessee or denver. Cardinals realized this, made a smart move
After his new contract I am sure he will invite Joey Porter out for dinner.
Ok
Levi Brown sucks.
Yep, I think is is a sign the Arizona front office is thinking Manning is most likely going elsewhere.
Or it could be a sign that the Manning camp has already revealed the numbers another club has offered. Either way, I think Arizona could be moving on.
For some reason Manning is in love with Denver, but it looks like Bud Adams is willing to hand him everything. Manning is coming back to Tennessee.
Cards were ready to sign Levi regardless of Manning. I don’t believe this takes them out of the running although Titans and Broncos may be more likely. Levi officially not signing until tomorrow.
Levi at RT I can handle. LT going against defense’s top pass rusher he got abused until the last 8 games. Last 8 OK. I’m guessing his agent said “get it in gear or you’ll be outta the league”. Draft a LT and were OK (not great….given).
