Cowboys sign ex-Jet Brodney Pool

Pool_Brodney

Free agent safety Brodney Pool is heading to Dallas.

Pool has signed with the Cowboys, head coach Jason Garrett told reporters this morning.

After the Browns took him in the second round of the 2005 NFL draft, Pool left for the Jets in 2010 and played the last two years there.

Pool already knows the Dallas D because Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was the Browns’ defensive coordinator in 2009, and because Ryan runs a similar scheme to that of his brother Rex Ryan, the Jets’ head coach.

Last season Pool played 14 games for the Jets, starting six.

That’s a good pickup for the Cowboys. He should be a serviceable player for them but will not stop them from grabbing a safety in the draft if needed, too.

Now Ahmad can run him over twice per year.

Now he can get flattened by Bradshaw twice this year.

Am I the only one surprised the Cowboys are making great moves? Yes I am a Cowboys fan, but they have really surprised me this offseason. Brandon Carr, Lawerence Vickers, Brodney Pool, Kyle Orton, and Bernadeu (sp?) They really are addressing problem areas and it’s finally good to see. Maybe Garrett is getting a little more input then past coaches.

Now sign Conner, get some D and O line in the draft and we take a HUGE step in the right direction.

Being a Jets fan, I’m glad to see Pool go to a team where he can start and shine. He never got the credit and praise he deserved in New York.

Bradshaw knocking this guy out was a classic hit. Wonder if he will shy away from contact against the champs.
