Free agent cornerback Tracy Porter visiting Bengals today

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cincinnati Bengals are hosting cornerback Tracy Porter for a free agent visit on Thursday.

Cincinnati needs corner help in the worst way. Left cornerback Nate Clements has entered his decline phase at age 32, and right corner Leon Hall is trying to return from a torn Achilles’ tendon.

Porter has played right corner and covered the slot in New Orleans. He’s still only 25 years old, and is one of the top cornerbacks left on the free agent market.

Per Schefter, Porter has also drawn interest from the Raiders, and the Saints would like to keep him.

A previous report also linked Porter to the Rams, though they may have backed off after breaking the bank for Cortland Finnegan.

Highly surprising that Cincy has not tapped into their surplus of Free Agency $$$

    Go UNC-Asheville!!

He’s going to look cool with those Tiger stripes shaved into his hair!

At least the Bengals appear to be serious about improving this team and making it back to the playoffs. Wonder if its too late for me to trade in all my Brown and Orange for Black and Orange. Cinci is only 3.5 hours away from Cleveland, highly considering.

Nate Clements entered his “decline phase” as soon as he signed his monster contract with the 49ers.

Isn’t that the guy Marshawn Lynch threw to the ground with one hand on his “beastquake” run?

Thanks for the NFC Championship and SB picks. Otherwise, meh.

Would be a great combo to see Leon Hall and Tracy Porter working on the outside for the Bengals. Hopefully they can sign Ross to be the Nickle corner and Pacman to be the reserve guy for Dime Packages. Who Dey!

I wonder what kind of bounty the Bengals will offer him.

He’s a nickel at best. Very weak against the run, a gambler, and his coverage skills are overrated. He’s not bad, but never built on his fast start in the NFL.

I wouldn’t mind the Saints bringing him back as a nickel or dime just because we’re razor thin at corner, but only at the right price.

At least the Saints won the only SB they’ve played in.

Never heard of the guy. Bengals need help wherever but didn’t the Saints secondary suck last year?

Trust me…..even when all the teams have$1.56 left in cap money, the remaining free agents would rather douse themselves in gasoline and light themselves on fire than play for the Bengals. It pisses me off

memo from mike brown to bengal staffers:
this is the last year of no minimum spending required
on players, therefore if any player is signed above league minimum wages, they will be fired. your yellow cab fare to the airport out of town will be deducted from your last check.
    have a great season guys.

I’m inferring from your screen name that you are from NJ not Louisiana. You don’t even know he also forced a fumble in the NFCCG? He started for 3 years, and all three years we made the playoffs.

    Thanks for it all Tracy.

hahahaha…good one. SeaChickens have one play they can be proud of in the last 15 years.
    “beastquake”…pitiful

Porter will be wearing Silver and Black- Big Reg will make it happen.

Dang, I guess those high school droppin’-Frog eatin’-Meth-lab ownin’-Teeth missin’-swamp trailer livin’ saints fans are sensitive. You would think they were still sore about getting knocked out of the playoffs despite the institutionalized cheating or something. Gonna be rough for you guys when Goodell brings “The Reckoning”.

In his first 2 seasons Porter was a great pure man cover corner but injuries have taken away a lot of his speed. He’s now more of a #2 gambling-type guy that will get burned but hopefully make enough plays to compensate for it.
The big problem with Porter is he can’t play nickel to save his life, otherwise the Saints would be trying to keep him.

  22. geauxmez says: Mar 15, 2012 6:43 PM

seeing Porter leave will be a huge bummer.

Dang, I guess being a Seahawk fan has made you an ignorant bigot it’s ok. I know having a team that has won an average of 6 games a year for the last 6 years is tough but not as tough as it must have been to watch the Steelers steal your Super Bowl victory. Go Steelers!!!

He will end up with the raiders, as his old position coach, is now the head coach in oakland

  25. whodey28 says: Mar 15, 2012 10:08 PM

Unfortunately he is probably using Cincy as leverage..
