Lions to host O.J. Atogwe, special teamer Tim Shaw

Oshiomogho Atogwe, DeAngelo Hall AP

Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reports that the club has scheduled visits with free agent safety O.J. Atogwe and free agent linebacker Tim Shaw for next week.

Atogwe was released in a cap-savings move earlier this week after a disappointing season with the Redskins. He has some coaching staff ties to the Lions, and could push Amari Spievey for the team’s starting strong safety job.

Shaw is a productive special teamer.

Perhaps more notably, Twentyman reports that the Lions are in talks with free agent linebacker Stephen Tulloch. The seriousness of those exchanges is unknown.

Lions will probably announce Tulloch’s signing tomorrow. I was a little disappointed in his play last year but he knows the defense.

The Lions are great shape cap-wise. With all the restructuring they did this week, they are about 14 million under the cap now!

In other news, Mayhew isn’t overpaying for anyone in the first few days of free agency. He’s playing this really smart.

The Lions getting O.J. would make sense, it’s just that he was a bust in Washington — his back up played better.

Soulman barely speaks english and thinks that signing Calvin Johnson to that contract was a bad idea. The guys a joke.

Makes sense, lions need secondary help and Atogwe’s hometown is right across the river anyway.

I really want shaw to come back to tennessee, he is an incredible special teamer, a great backup linebacker, and a tremendous leader

Disappointed in Tulloch? lol….There were only two linebackers better than he was last year, you find out who.
