APFree agent safety Reggie Nelson will visit the Jets on Friday, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The Jets appear to be hunting for an upgrade on Jim Leonhard, who is also unsigned and tore his right patella tendon last December. It’s a significant injury.
Nelson is entering his age-29 season. He is the No. 49 overall player on the PFT Hot 100.

If this guy is 49 out of 100 …
Free agency must really suck.
Hopefully he lasts until Friday’s visit.
They never should have traded Dwight Lowery last year.
PLEASE re-sign nelson cincy!
Who is this guy? Jets should see what Leonard’s price is. Yes he has been hurt last 2 seasons but they were freak injuries and he knows defense.
jets need to get this guy and take a SS in the draft. Landry’s achilles is a ticking time bomb.
he will sign somewhere other than cincy, mike brown to cheeep to sign anybody past their initial cheep rookie contract.
He’ll be 28 at start of the season and 29 at the end.
Man, was he good in the Swamp!
I coveted this kid over Justin Harrell in the 2007 draft. Go to Green Bay – I have a feeling we’ll need a free safety and the draft is poor.
He can play centerfield and that is about it. I’m guessing he cannot learn the playbook.
Leonhard is a coach on the field. He’s one tough dude too. No way thus guy is an upgrade over a healthy Leonhard.
