Fred Davis signs franchise tender, guaranteeing him $5.446 million

The Washington Redskins announced Friday that tight end Fred Davis has signed his one-year franchise tender.

Davis will receive a guaranteed base salary of $5.446 million in 2012.

G.M. Bruce Allen recently stated that the Redskins intend, eventually, to sign Davis to a long-term contract. After a 2011 suspension that ended his season after 12 games, however, the Skins may make Davis prove he can stay drug free for a full year before making that commitment.

The Skins have many weapons now and they have no excuse for not winning 9 games this season.

Freddy sees where this is headed…RG3, Garcon & Morgan and Davis, Roy Helu pounding the rock, the 3-4 with Kerrigan & Orakpo, it’s coming together……

Forget this lout. Put the team in jeopardy twice now with his reckless behavior. We can give Davis 5 mill but we can’t pay a guy who made the pro bowl the last 2 years and led the league in tackles at age 37 and is the team leader and is a roll model on and off the field. Wow the world has truly turned upside down.

maybe he’ll be able to hire someone to teach him to block

I guess this had to be done, but I don’t think I’ll ever forgive Davis for what he pulled. Guys work their tails off for the chance to be in his shoes, and he repetitively got caught smoking the kind. Really!? You can’t refrain after the 1st or 2nd warning? Really!? Do you realize the position God has put you in? With your talents? You do realize your teammates are counting on you?

    Wow. Don’t do it again.

Nice! Love Fred Davis, fred… Lay off the weed or go get some of that concoction they sell at gnc (golden seal or whatever it’s called). Don’t mess this up for yourself or the team, we need you. London Fletcher needs to be signed asap, what happened to shanny’s “signing Fletch is a priority”? And sign Santana Moss too, he still plays like he’s 22, lots left in that tank.
