Peyton chase teams have plenty of cap space

Indianapolis Colts v Denver Broncos

Based on the remaining cap space as of Thursday, the teams left in the Peyton chase have more than enough room to sign the former Colts quarterback to the five-year, $90 million contract he reportedly wants.

(Good thing it’s not about the money.)

The Broncos lead the way with $40 million. The Titans have $26.2 million in space, and the 49ers have $23.5 million to spend.

The Cardinals, presumably before doing a new deal with tackle Levi Brown, had only $448,000 left. Even with Brown’s new contract, it could have been tough for the Cardinals to free up the room necessary to sign Peyton, which may have been a factor in Arizona’s exit.

As of Thursday, 10 teams still had more than $20 million in cap space.
