NFL has already issued a statement that a contract like that wouldn’t get approved. Ownership stakes have to be voted on and anything with FO job or things like that would be a possible salary cap violation. Bud Adams is just talking like a fan would.

Give the guy a break…if you had a choice between 3 good jobs…..3 different cities/climates) wouldn’t you want to take your time and think all things through. It is just not Peyton but his family he has to consult as well.
This is a big decision. My vote….Broncos

So Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Eli, Ben….are all greedy and don’t care about their teams too? All have some pretty big contracts.

Fact: Irsay publicly stated he wanted to make Peyton the highest paid player. Peyton said that wasn’t necessary and signed for the same amount as Brady.

Fact: The contract he was offered had a much higher guarantee with no option clause for the Colts if he wasn’t healthy. He told them to put the option in there so they could get out of the contract. He had no option out clause.

Bottom line is he could have gotten several more million dollars from the Colts, but HE had them structure the contract for less money and less guaranteed money.

ramjam….you are right, he did not have to come back, after stealing that money last year from the colts for not playing, he does have alot of money. if all he wants is a chance at a ring, the deal would have been done by now. there are a few teams that he could put over the top. the only reason a deal isnt done yet is because he is gonna squeeze all the money out of it as he can. the deal wont be done next week if another team with money seems interested. such a scam and we fans will glorify him for it.

Titans pros, know the division
Cons, play industry twice a year
Broncos pros, weaker division to win
Cons, colder than the other two teams
Niners pros, good defense
cons, NFC, don’t want to knock brothe out of the superbowl.
I would be surprise if manning joined the niners, do you really want to bring your family to the bay. Who is he gonna throw to? Moss! Yeah you have davis and crabtree but that is it. As for the titans, CJ is gonna want to run the ball alot, Peyton wants to throw alot, how do they coinsist

2011 49ERS win the Super bowl hands down with a healthy Ted Gin & a healthy Josh Morgan and competent zebras in the NFC Championship game, but I am torn with signing Peyton he is a great QB but yet a gamble….. The only Lombardi 18 has ever hoisted was decided in a close game Vs Rex Grossmans’ Bears.. He tends to unravel in the playoffs or the big game, sky is the limit but in the history of the NFL no Super bowl champion QB has ever won a ring with another organization still a crap shoot..!!

When I saw Randy Moss signed w/SF, It almost made me think Peyton would go there. But as I have stated here and always thought there is NO way he will sign w/a NFC club.

It’s a family thing, that IS the reason Eli would not sign w/the Chargers being big bro was in the AFC. Archie will not have one son knocking the other out of the playoffs.

The master family plan is for both boys to have a chance of each other meeting in the Super Bowl. That is the only way those two brothers will face each other in the post sans regular season

So look for Peyton to sign w/Denver and Tebow to be traded to JAX. That will get the new owner out of the mess he got himself in regarding “True Jaguar fans”.

A few things to remember about the 49ers:
1) they gave up more sacks than any other team, and lost Snyder in free agency without replacing him. They do not have a great O line for pass protection nor cap space to fix it if they land Peyton.
2) Peyton hasn’t toured the SF facilities like he has elsewhere. It could indicate he’s less serious about SF. If it was only because SF wanted secrecy, you would expect to see him there in person now that the news has broken if he is seriously considering SF.
3) The stadium in SF will be seen by him as a negative. The new one will be ready just in time for him to retire.
4) The Seahawks would be wise to swoop in now and sign Alex Smith. He’s an upgrade for them at QB, they have the cash and cap space, and could seriously damage a divisional opponent by grabbing him. I’m no Smith fan, but who else can we get if Peyton signs elsewhere? Garrard? Capernick isn’t ready.

I like the combo with C Johnson. Peyton has to be thinking about that horse in the stable. They have a couple decent wr, a tight end, and a pick to add wr. I think the pieces fit better in nashville…same division helps. Funny how the talk was how he would chose a dome or inside facility….hhmm

49ers were very close to taking it all last year, considering the Giants went on to win the Championship. The problem with tinkering with almost is chemistry. How much was due to the team’s unity, and overachieving for other teammates? Bringing in Moss and Manning could put them over the top, or blow up locker room chemistry. Most complete team for Manning though, no doubt. Smith should feel honored to hold his clipboard, and stay ready.

For everyone blaming Peyton for taking so long to decide you should really keep this in perspective. Peyton was cut(understandibly given the colts rebuild) He now has to make a decision that will likely affect the rest of his career. As everyone keeps pointing out hes 36 and likely wont play for another team after this so be patient or blame the media if anything for reporting on every move.

I am seeing people acting like Alex Smith is suddenly going to get petty. A few years ago the team flew in Kurt Warner for a visit and he still stuck around.

I think Alex is mature enough to know the only reason the 49ers are in this race is because it’s Peyton Manning. If this were a story about Matt Flynn or someone of the ilk we wouldn’t be having this discussion and Alex would currently be signed with the 49ers.

Considering the two have the same agent I wouldn’t be surprised if Alex knew about this when it happened so I am pretty sure if he wanted to screw the team over he would have went elsewhere by now.

It’s funny how his old coach (Duke’s current Head Coach) is so involved with helping Manning get back to playing shape. What about his own quarterback at Duke? They suck!! I know they could use some of his attention!
